The 13 Thursday Writer’s Canvas
1. I’m convinced that summer gnats get in your eyes because they mistake them for pools to swim in.
2. It’s funny that the cartoon-cute chipmunk eating at our bird feeder doesn’t bother me, but the thieving squirrel does.
3. Some of my Facebook friends have joined: When I hear myself eating crunchy food, I wonder if people can hear it too.
4. A recent conversation with someone suspicious of the blogsphere and another one with someone who described my blog as “girlie” prompted me to change my blog tagline to “a blog is to a writer what a canvas is to an artist.”
5. I loved the ironic, teasing humor of the tagline I’ve used for 5 years – “Things I would not tell anyone, I tell the public.” ~ Michel de Montaigne – but it’s reflective of my writer’s shyness, which I think I’m finally growing out of.
6. I like to fiddle with words and put them together like a safe deposit combination to see what they can open.
7. The butterfly that landed on Joe’s hand last week has returned several times since then. I think it has bonded with the flower print on my porch chairs, thinking the flowers are real.
8. A simple and ingenious way to clean up the oil spill? Well worth a look HERE.
9. Another writer’s canvas: Our locally based literary magazine, Floyd Moonshine, HERE.
10. Today while modeling for the Floyd Figures Drawing Group, I remembered a line I first heard from my friend Will: Don’t just do something. Sit there.
11. The most fun painter’s canvas on the internet HERE.
12. Current answering machine message: Leave your message or forever hold your peace after the beep.
13. What’s yours?
More 13 Thursday writers are HERE.

Gnats, Butterflies, Bees, Mosquitoes. I can’t decide if I’m happy bugs are back for the season or annoyed. I guess both. I have some butterflies hanging around my yard too. Happy TT!

Chipmunks are definitely cuter than squirrels. Look at Chip and Dale! Glad to see the butterflies, not so much the mosquitoes.

I noticed the tag changed the other day..hmnn

I like your new tag line and agree, a blank canvas is like a opening up a new blog post – the possibilities are endless! Love your 13, always entertaining.

That is odd that we tolerate chipmunks…but if they started getting into our houses that might make a difference. I think in some areas they are using hay and straw to absorb the oil.

Okay, I just spent way too much time on Jason Pollocks website. Fun lol
Happy T13!

I like your new tagline. Writers, unlike other artists, think their writing should always be perfect.

Hi it’s Janet, please leave a message. Thanks! Short, sweet and to the point.
I love the imagery of #1 and #6 🙂

I think squirrels are really cute.
I don’t join FB groups often and I don’t think I would join that one either, but I have wondered that myself at one time or another.
I liked your old tagline, but I really like your new one too.

Another excellent TT. I think the hay idea for the oil spill is excellent. Too bad BP doesn’t own Monsanto, I’m sure then they’d go that route instead of the poisonous dispersants. Because it is always about the money.

#3 – i am so sensitive to the sound of crunching that i am always aware – i can’t stand the sound. of course, my own doesn’t bother me so much, but hearing anyone else crunching drives me crazy. i would just as soon listen to chalk scrape along a chalkboard.

“Girlie”? Please….that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard! OY!
I saw those two guys and the Hay…..FABULOUS! I hope they do this and maybe that might save some of the Wildlife–Birds, Fish, etc…
Love that Jackson Pollack site, Colleen…..
As always….a WONDERFUL TT!
