13: How Now Cow Brown Cow?
1. It seems all I have to do to make it rain is to spend a couple of hours watering my garden, and sure enough, there will be a downpour the next morning.
2. Tuesday’s thunder storm knocked the power out but I was able to start the generator on my own for the first time, which was very “empowering.”
3. Another way to increase my odds of it raining (and we need it) is to do laundry and hang it on the line.
4. Favorite posting on Facebook this week: There is a “lie” in believe, “over” in lover, “end” in friend, “us” in trust, and “if” in life.
5. One of my favorite words is endangered because the words “End Danger and Anger” are within it. Evolves is another one I like because it says “Love Solves.”
6. I’m kicking myself for not pulling over to take a picture of the “Cowboy Church” sign I saw on my way to Blacksburg last week.
7. Speaking of weird, look at THIS car Stonehenge.
8. Also seen on Facebook: Man tries to steal a surveillance camera from a home improvement store but gets caught by a surveillance camera. See HERE.
9. I get so much done when I do nothing! Crashed out on the hammock, recovering after Floydfest, our town’s 4 day world music festival, I became a Jung meets Einstein genius because when the bottom falls out a flood of enlightened insight usually follows. The full awakening and confession are HERE.
10. In the Global Village at Floydfest I went from a talk on the teachings of Buddha to petting a milking cow named Primrose. I met a young boy who was carving a bowl out of stone in the primitive arts camp, danced in my bare feet on the grass to the music of a surprisingly good band, and then laid in a hammock to wait for the full moon. ~ Read the rest HERE.
11. Check out my FloydFest “Where’s Waldo?” video HERE. At least one person has reported finding themselves in it.
12. Did you know that the word “Cowabunga!” was first coined as a greeting used between Buffalo Bob Smith and Chief Thunderthud on the Howdy Doody Show during the 1950’s. Later, the term became widely used in the Gidget surfer movies and has been most recently popularized by popularized by Bart Simpson of The Simpsons and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
13. You’ve heard of the wind-up toy, check out THIS wind-up boy.

Great post Colleen. Since I have been to Stonehenge, I was most impressed with Carhenge. Thanks for sharing.

Who knew “cowabunga” dated back that far? Can’t say that makes me like the word any more, LOL. Have a great weekend!

A fun TT! Lots of stuff in there. Glad you enjoyed Floydfest.

I don’t like the word “cowabunga” all that much either, but I do like “Wind-up Boy”!!!!

I got such a chuckle out of your “empowering” experience. Kudos for doing it yourself!
I can totally relate to the laundry on the line and sprinkling the grass. We rarely get rain when we need it, but if I do one or both of those things, get out the umbrella! (Or if I wash the car.)

I so absolutely must try to make this festival in the future. Although large crowds of partially naked people doing their thing is not my husband’s favorite activity…though in reality, he is MUCH more a fun, hang-out guy than I ever was a fun, hang-out gal.

if you are as much fun in real life as you are here then we are missing out on great conversations and adventures by living so far from you! 😉

6. I’m kicking myself for not pulling over to take a picture of the “Cowboy Church” sign I saw on my way to Blacksburg last week.
My nephew’s daughter apparently actually attends the Cowboy Church in Lafayette, Georgia, just south of here. I’ve seen a photo of her wearing a t-shirt — I’ll email it to you.

So intrigued, I looked it up and found this from wikipedia: Cowboy churches are local Christian churches within the cowboy culture that are distinctively Western heritage in character. A typical cowboy church may meet in a rural setting in a barn, metal building, arena, sale barn, or old western building, have its own rodeo arena, and a country gospel band. Baptisms are generally done in a cattle tank. The sermons are usually short and simple. Some cowboy churches have covered arenas where rodeo events such as bull riding, team roping, ranch sorting, team penning and equestrian events are held on weeknights.
Sky, I might be like a comedian who isn’t that funny off stage.

I just cannot get over that two years have passed since Bryce was born….Time is really moving faster and faster for me…He is sooooo adorable—(and in that little video from Floydfest that you posted, too…)…
Fascinating about all the words that contain words—with some little bit of dyslexia, I never see these things till they are pointed out….!
As always, Colleen, a very rich TT….!

That’s where cowabunga came from. Huh.
There is a “lie” in believe, “over” in lover, “end” in friend, “us” in trust, and “if” in life.
Those are cool transformations. I love words buried in words.
Just back from 2 week excursion myself. it was good energies but still I wonder how long it’ll take to recharge and regroup.
