13: Knock Knock, Who’s There?
1. Its all part of the job: These days I’ve been collecting knock knock jokes for a man with disabilities that I support and playing Uno card games with a young woman who I provide support services to.
2. HERE’s a site that gives knock knock jokes to go with first names.
3. I was surprised they had one for my name, which is: knock knock, who’s there? Colleen. Colleen who? Colleen your room up and I’ll tell you.
4. I recently noticed that a photo-op is just one o away from a photo oops!
5. As a friend of mine was talking about loss, I found myself thinking about letters I could add to the word to transform the meaning. Gloss. Floss. Any more suggestions?
6. Becky from Peevish Pen recently said on Facebook , “Am I the only one who think only one that thinks THIS is bizarre like sleeping with a dismembered body?”
7. Knock on Wood: Used by people who rap their knuckles on a piece of wood hoping to stave off bad luck. In the UK the phrase ‘touch wood’ is used – often jokingly by tapping one’s head. The phrases are usually used when one is already experiencing some good fortune and hope that it will continue. The derivation may be the association that wood and trees have with good spirits in mythology, or with the Christian cross. It used to be considered good luck to tap trees to let the wood spirits within know you were there. Traditions of this sort still persist in Ireland.
8. After lunch with my friend Alwyn today, I stopped at Walmart, where all the parked cars had had water dripping puddles from running air conditioning and the whole parking lot smelled of new melting tar, which made me wonder how they could pour new blacktop when the store is open 24/7.
9. My husband’s signature onions: I cut onions for cooking like I sign my name – sprawling, intelligible, and every which way – unlike my husband who uses a chopping board and cuts his thin and uniformly.
10. Knocked off. Knock it off. Knocked up. Knocked over. Knocked Out. Knock Out.
11. Now I have Tony Orlando and Dawn’s Knock Three Times on the Ceiling if You Want Me, which kind of makes me want to gag. So I’m replacing it with THIS song.
12. Floydfest rave light show is HERE.

I think I’ll skip (avoid??) your musical “suggestions” and stick with the waltz from Sleeping Beauty that has been playing in my head since tonight’s Concert on the Square. *grin* Hope you’re having a great week!

We use the expression touch wood quite a bit in New Zealand.
#4 made me laugh. I do photo oops all the time. Thank goodness for digital cameras.

4. I find that I have more photo oops than ops.
9. You read your onions like tea leaves.
13. Hope you have better reviews than I did!

I adored Knock-Knock jokes as a child (I drove my family crazy with them)…and I still love them. I love the utter silliness of them.
Oh no…now I have Knock Three Times on the Ceiling going through my head. Make it stop!

Hit the other song quick then! It’s a good one!

I’ve had a commercial, an old commercial running through my head… I wish I were an Oscar Meyer wiener. Hmm… perhaps some deep reflection on an unresolved dream? I don’t remember ever wishing I were a hot dog in this sense of the word…;)
I found your butterflies… somewhat different varieties than we have seen here at the coast so far. Currently I have 25 black swallowtails in cocoons and hopefully to emerge in the next week. I found one small monarch caterpillar on the milkweed yesterday and quickly brought him in. Something has been eating them, even though they are supposed to be protected by the poison milkweed they eat.

I love the Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door cover version in #11. Your Thursday 13 always makes me laugh. =) This is a cool one. I can’t think of any more suggestions #5 unless I add more letters:
b-loss-om. =)

LOVE this! Thank you so much for the link with the name jokes! All 3 of my kids are on there, and my 6 year old boy will LOVE hearing those.

6. Yes, that is pretty bizarre!
7. My Mum was British so we used “touch wood” ALL the time! It also made me think about the French tête de bois (wood head).

That’s a MUCH better song!!!

Hey I still say knock on wood. Sadly there is usually not a lot of wood around me, mostly pressboard.

No. 3 is cute :); no. 1 wonderful! Oh, I scrolled down quickly to your earlier posts. I love the photo captioned “path of least resistance” and the ‘takuri’ Thanks for sharing.

To the Peevish Pen post yes that is very weird. When my kids were little they constantly made up knock knock jokes that were only funny because they were so cute. I chuckled at photo op to photo oops and it made me think of Chivedotcom.

#7 reminds me of our motown days!! And #11 is a soooooo much better song!! Love you! xo

#10: the British phrase “knock up” means to knock on someone’s door. Interesting, the differences between American and British English, eh?
