13: News, Views and Muse
1. When Margaret Hatcher died on Monday some Twitter users thought Cher had died because a Twitter message read #NowThatcher’sDead – Now Thatcher’s Dead – and some read it as #NowThatCher’sDead.
2. That reminds me of the time a friend of mine had a T-shirt on that said “Hug therapist” but I read it as “Hug the rapist.”
3. On Tuesday I heard our Senator Tim Kaine speaking about his support for banning certain types of assault-style weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines on local TV. He made a good point when he said: A Virginian, James Madison, drafted the Bill of Rights, and we in the commonwealth believe strongly in the Second Amendment. But just as we know that the First Amendment’s protection of free speech gives no protection to slander or child pornography, we also understand that the individual right to bear arms is tempered by a responsibility to society.”
4. Check out THIS nude alphabet.
5. And THIS dance illusion is a riot!
6. “I don’t believe in God, but I have this idea that if there were a God, or destiny of some kind looking down on us, that if he saw you taking anything for granted he’d take it away.” Hugh Laurie
7. Dr. Gregory House (aka Hugh Laurie) eating ice cream while watching a Biggest Looser marathon to distract himself from his pain and addiction: “I like to pretend they can see me eating.”
8. I had a roommate once who had a phobic fear of moths and to this day I think of her every time I see one.
9. I was driving down Route 8 last week and saw a dog riding in a car with its head out the window, which reminded me how much I used to like do that and made me wonder why I ever stopped.
10. I have always liked to ride in the back seat of cars because I think back seats are more like couches where I can stretch out and relax.
11. I used to work in a factory called Couch that made fire alarms and communications equipment. My sister Sherry worked there too and we had an apartment. We call that time in our lives our Laverne and Shirley days.
12. The word “ride” is in “drive,” and they are nearly the same word – like note and tone – except that drive has an added V, which makes perfect sense because V infuses words with vibration and vitality. Thirteen Thursday Drive-by
13. “I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.” – Alice Walker

This is actually one of your best TT’s! I want to share it with everyone, so please post it on FB!
The nude alphabet is something else…..some positions were so sexy, while others like X and V were not!!
PS I loved our Laverne and Shirley days, when we were so innocent to the world!

Too bad about Thatcher. I also had to call & console my (slightly) older brother, who hadn’t yet heard that Annette Funicello — the love of his early life — had also passed on.

I loved the nude alphabet – but how sad is it that it’s considered NSFW?
I also liked the quote in number three. Too bad more people don’t have that much good sense, isn’t it?
Happy TT!

I’ve seen that illusion dance before. It really makes you re-think legs.

Fear of moths? I wonder if she ever read the story of the moth that saved a trainful of people? It fluttered at the headlamp of the steam train and the conductor thought its shadow was someone on the track waving him to a stop. he stopped. when he got out he saw the bridge they were about to cross was washed out by flood. What moth was that? I read the story as a child. It was named for someone aboard, perhaps royalty?

I enjoyed the dance thing, what a riot. Thank goodness at least one of our representatives has some sense. Some days you have to wonder.

Your number one thought makes me chuckle. It proves that we as people aren’t quite as attentive as perhaps we could be. Thanks. 🙂
