13: What’s That?

1. Some people use mountain scenes or flower gardens as a backdrop for a photo-op. I like to use OuterSpace.
2. I made THIS video for my grandsons because it was a favorite song we used to sing at Halloween when they were little.
3. When they were little and we first discovered the Spooky Spooky song, they put on a show. Not to be missed HERE.

4. Albert Einstein used the phrase “spooky action at a distance” to describe quantum entanglement, when two or more subatomic particles can become linked so that the physical state of one instantly dictates the state of the other, no matter how far apart they are—even if they are on opposite sides of the universe.

5. Qu’est-ce que c’est?
6. Dogtown is always a home game.

7. I finally got to see what a Moose Lodge was all about. The one in Floyd presented a beautiful memorial ceremony, music and food spread to celebrate the life of our friend Lester, a well-loved community musican who passed away last week.

8. Always the musician, Lester wrote a song about his last breath and they played it with him singing it at his memorial celebration of life. It starts with: Someday when my last line is written / Someday when I’ve drawn my last breath / When my last word is spoken / and my lips are sealed with death / Don’t look on my cold form with pity / Don’t think of me as one dead / It’ll just be the house I once lived in / My spirit by then will have fled. -Song by Lester Weddle.

9. We also danced and sang together at the Dogtown Open Mic that Lester was instrumental in keeping going.

10. From Talking Heads to Sympathy for the Devil at Dogtown and other songs at Open Mic in honor of Lester and his daughters and grandaughter. It was a busy weekend. Listen HERE.
11. Every death chinks away at my identity because my identity is intrinsically tied to those I love. But maybe life is designed to do that, so that when it comes my time to leave this world, my ego-self will have receded enough that I can finally let go of it all.

12. More on Lester and community tributes to him HERE.
13. Amen.

I’m sorry about your friend. I’ve never known anyone to write a song about their own death before.

We were saying maybe we should all do that, write a song about our own death or last words and have it played. It was profound to hear Lester’s voice come in the room.
