Reality
“Evolution does not favor reality. Its goal is survival.” – Cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman
Reality as we have
collectively named it
can be viewed like a dream
prisms seen from different angles
revealing parts of the same
Life is a theme we row
gently or roughly
down the stream
hurriedly or merrily
or scarcely received
And each part
of the characters cast
is a mirror reflecting
you and me
Is a hat trick
if you believe it
A mythological truth
that can dissolve
or last forever
A Cinderella story
on a silver platter
Human reality
is a big bang of memory
with a gravitational pull
to make meaning
It’s a sleight of slowed light
we hold tightly in place
that inevitably escapes
its confinement

Very thought-provoking! My passage is “a big bang of memory / with a gravitational pull /
to make meaning”.

Hmm, now you’ve got me pondering for myself what is the nature of reality. (Might it be subjective?)

I like the options your imagination provides. Objective truth, indeed, eludes us as we form our own realities to try and make sense of why we exist.

Intriguing I love how you say that the characters are mirror images of you and me

There are so many facets of this piece I enjoyed. I read it several times and was struck by what I found each time. There’s always delight in a new meaning made or found.

The prismatic view of life where everything boils down to rays of light is an awakened perception. Very well written.
