13: I Won’t Be Sitting on His Lap

1. My day was made on Monday when I heard Johnny Cash sing I Won’t Back Down on Pandora.

2. Then I told my new iphone lady, Suri, to “play Bob Dylan: Baby, Let Me Follow You Down,” and she did!”

3. I was mildly mortified (an oxymoron?) that I misspelled Seussified in the newspaper in my  coverage of the latest Young Actors Co-op Play, A Seussified Christmas Carol.

4. I feel discriminated against when the only women’s cotton terry cloth bathrobes I can find are the pastel pink and lavender ones that get dirty the first week you wear them.

5. I can’t help feeling that the super storm Sandy and the mass shootings of children in Sandy Hook Connecticut have some weird symmetry, as if they are parallel manifestations of the same upheaval, hinting that we are not so separate from the planet we live on. And am I the only one that has noticed the name Sandy in both these tragic events?

6. Another strange line-up is that on the same day that 20 children, as young as 6 years old, were gunned down in a murderous spree, a man in China tried to kill 22 children the same age with a knife. I think the fact that none of those children died kind of makes a point about the lethalness of assault guns.

7. “It is the bend of time, not the end of time. The “b” has already turned the corner,” says my Dharmcratic friend Will

8. Joe just asked my iphone Siri what her zodiac sign was, and she answered, “I don’t like to talk about myself.”

9. My favorite Christmas song, starring this year’s Christmas tree is HERE.

10. The Anti-Claus from the Church of Stop Shopping preaching about the rapture of the Final Consumption says: Children, we are all of us shopping sinners. Each of us is walking around in a swirl of gas and oil, plastics and foil. We are not evil people, but somehow we allowed the Lords of Consumption to organize us into mobs that buy and dispose, suck fructose and pull triggers. More HERE.

11. What would John Lennon do?

12. I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it. ~Pablo Picasso

13. Don’t forget what the ghost of Marley told the humbug Scrooge himself: Mankind is your business!

And to all a goodnight

Thirteen Thursday

Anyone who takes a minute once in a while to remember John & wonder what he would do is aces in my book, CR. As always, enjoyed the read.

Why do some fashion designers seem to believe that ALL women wear pastels? Whether in robes or sweats, it seems the only way to find colors you actually LIKE and will actually wear is to hit the men’s department. I don’t do pastels, and I rarely do white.

As for number 6…I had not heard about that. Scary, and you make a valid point.

  • 3 Stephanie Sullivan:

Yep, I just have to ditto what you said about pastels. I HATE wearing pastels, especially pink and lavender. Blech! LOL. Happy Thursday! 🙂

  • 4 Kimberly Menozzi:

Add me to the anti-pastel parade! I’m no fan of pink for my clothes (except in May, when the Giro d’Italia is in full swing – that’s when my boys wear pink, too), or any really light colors for an all-over outfit. I ruin light-colored clothes almost instantaneously!

And I couldn’t agree with you more about number six. Just sayin’.

    Happy TT to you, darlin’!

Pink is my least favorite color. I don’t know why robe mfgrs. think everything has to be pink or lavender. Give me a dark color, please!!

    4. there’s nothing but habit preventing us from shopping equally among gender-sold things. men’s blue plaid is just as warm.

  • 10 Janet:
