The Blog: A Thriller
Sometimes I wish the word “blog” didn’t sound so much like “blob” and remind me of the 1958 movie (The Blob) staring Steve McQueen where something falls from outer space and gets stuck on his arm and then grows and grows until it covers his body. It’s good for blogs to grow – more readers and posts everyday – right? It’s not going to take over my life – right?

You’re right, the word “blog” just isn’t very appealing, is it? I am glad that Michele sent me back for another visit to your wonderful, for lack of a better word, blog 🙂

Good morning, Colleen. Michele sent me! I’ve been here before and I will be back. I agree with you about the word “blog”. I’m forever explaining what it means.

I’m actually getting tired of hearing/seeing the word _ _ _ _ .

You mean blog…blog…blog…sort of like blah…blah…blah…yada yada. What do you think it should be called instead?

Nope, not if you don’t let it take over. Remember when you first discovered the internet (or anything exciting) and how the excess gradually fell off?

I can see the “log” part making sense in the word bLOG; i.e. keeping a log, but I don’t get how the “b” got attached and for what reason.
Perhaps someone got sick of always using the “e” as in email, etc.
How does elog sound?
BTW, Speaking of the the movie “The Blob,” do you and your readers know that there is a blob type of substance dropping out of the sky all around the world? Now THAT’s a real thriller (and true).
If anyone is interested I’ll get a link.

I believe the B in Blog came from shortening the term weB LOG. But I think E-LOG does sound better to the ear. Maybe we should hold a survey/vote? Tell us more about the blog thing really coming from the sky?
