This is What Scares Me
Not long ago, I read that Albert Einstein was so distracted by his mathematical passion that he went out one winter day and left the hanger to his overcoat inside his coat…while he was wearing it! It scared me because it sounded like something I would do. I found myself patting my back after that, just to check. It’s not like I’m doing rocket science, but I frequently feel like the nutty professor type. You know, I hear voices (muses) in my head while I’m out in public, and it’s distracting.
Here’s something else that scares me: Not only do I worry about leaving hangers on my clothes while I’m wearing them, but, according to test results, I’m going to live to the age of 94 as…Kramer! Let me explain.
Recently, while bloghopping, I came across a fun site recommended by blogcruiser. It’s called blogthings.com and was listed as a place for bloggers to get ideas for things to post. Some of their offerings were quizzes to determine things like: What age will you die, What gender is your brain, What kind of American English do you speak, and What Personality Disorder Are You.
The first quiz I took was to determine when I would die; age 94 I was told. Then I did the personality disorder test. I answered a series of questions, hit the “submit” link…and presto…a picture of Seinfeld’s Kramer popped up on my screen with this explanation: You’re a bit odd and socially isolated. You couldn’t care less of what others think. And some of your beliefs are a little weird. Like that time you thought you were Jesus. Hmmm.
I belong to an email group, mostly family members, and we love this sort of thing. Soon we were sharing results, some of which included Miss Piggy, Marilyn Monroe, and wise guy, Tony Soprano. We all agreed that there was a shred of truth to each person’s result, with a little exaggeration thrown in just for fun. If you take the quiz – What Personality Disorder Are You? – tell me who you are. I hope the results don’t scare you.

There’s a shred of truth everywhere. It’s ubiquitous. Have you seen this? http://barkingdingo.blogspot.com/2005/04/thinking-experiment.html
By the way, I think you’ll outlive me by stats by over a decade…

Hi Pearl,
My name game was about 80% accurate. Then I did your name so I could get to know you better. According to it, we sound a lot alike. I’m guessing it was based on numerology. One day I want to read names based on letter sound properites. I’m getting close but still not confident enough to do it officially. Friends have consulted me when naming their children, though.

I don’t think I want to know how long I’ll live, but I did find out that I’m Tony Soprano, so that doesn’t bode well for my longevity, I’m afraid.

I’m honored that you took the time to run my name through the name game. I took it sentence by sentence and then just for random comparison picked another female name, Kim, and a male name, Robert, and did a yes, no breakdown phrase by phrase. I gave advice possibilities (such as mental tension could result from worrying too much) the benefit of a yes. So yes:no for each,
Pearl 4:3
Kim 3:1
Robert 2:1
At first glance it looked like it hit the mark but I think it’s more on the horoscope principle of broad things that are more likely to apply to anyone than not. Accurate no, but amusing, yes.

Hi Pearl, Mine was more accurate than yours…but I know what you mean…it’s all mostly 50/50 even if you use an alias. I did find that the personality disorder test touched on something accurate in a totally tongue and cheek way that made it fun…to laugh at yourslef.

I may be “a bit borderline.
Your mood swings make a roller coaster look tame!
When you’re up, you’re a little bit crazy…
And when you’re down, your whole world is crashing
Scary thing is, these moods can change by the minute!”
Hmmm, it’s sorta true. I guess.
I am a bit moody at times.

Okay..I’m clueless..I can’t find the game, but I think I’ve taken it before…I will be 92. I would still like to take the PDT though!

My husband came out the same as you, Mimi. He said it made sense. J&J’s, click on the link in my entry “What Personality Disorder Are You?. It’s underlined. It will take you right to the test.

Okay…I took that damn test six times!! I ended up Miss Piggy and Courtney Love (Mimi above) both which are not me at all. I’m not a Drama Queen, I don’t crave attention and I don’t try to get attention using sex even inappropriately. I think the problem was I was a bunch of qualities in the same answer, or none applied to me at all.
fun though! I’m going to play a few more!
BTW I got to the test via your Blogthings link…the actual test link didn’t work??? Not sure why.
