Kissing Cousins
My husband, Joe, and I first visited my cousin Bobby and his wife Rose in Breckenridge Colorado ten years ago. Even though it was mid-June, we still had to use a snowmobile to get to their snow covered mountain top home at an elevation of 11,000 feet.
Bob, part die-hard tattooed flower child, part independent mountain man, is my kissing cousin, which means that we had a crush on each other for a short time when we were kids, the way cousins often do. He, who still has a strong Boston accent, is a renowned master woodcrafter, carrying on the long line of German Lutheran carpenters that we share.
Our visit was shorter this time but was still packed with high energy conversation and antics (and even some kisses all around). It was fun to reminisce, to catch up with family doings, vent about the Bush Administration a little, and talk to someone who remembers the Paragon Park roller coaster in Hull, Massachusetts!
Thanks for the dinner and gifts, Bob and Rose. We love you!

Hi
I just returned from a trip to Flagstaff, Az. Elevation 7,000 feet, found it hard to breath. You were at 11,000 feet 10 yrs. ago. Maybe when you are young you can tolarate it.
I live in Ma. and remember Paragon Park. When I was a kid I went there with my parents. I remember the flying horses. Don’t know what is there now. Probably Condos!

Glad you got to visit your kissin’ cousin. Yes, I had one of those too! I used to think I was weird until I found out during my teens that many friends had them as well. 🙂 (oh yes, my KC’s name? Bobby of course – did you expect anything different?)

One week later and your visit would have included 24″ of snow. Yes you read right 2 feet of snow feel in less than 24 hours Oct. 9&10. The earliest big snow I have experienced in my 26 years here. The altitude affects every person different and different at different times. I wish I can kiss all my cousins, come on out. I miss you

BOBBY! So good to hear from you on Col’s blog…and was it ever good to see you smiling with her. I’d love to come out there. Last time, except from a brief airport stayover, I went with our nana (Mildred). I was only 7 years old and the memory of how beautiful it was there remains with me. Are you still making those boxes? Check out my blog sometime. It’s a little different than Col’s. I call myself Ben and I converse with Mr. Tiger, the petty tyrant that lives within each of us (the side of us that says we can’t be our best selves). It’s fun. Give it a look if you have time.

I am in Breck now, almost 11,000 feet in our home here. We use it for vacation. I struggle to sleep! My brother in law, Daniel Spann, has lived here for twenty years. Bobby, do you know him?
