Ice Ice Baby
AKA: Not all that glitters is gold ~ JRR Tolkein
Having 4 legs to balance her, our dog, Jazzy, didn’t have to slide her way down to the mailbox like I did. What we have here is a white Christmas with a little extra sparkle. There is no snow to shovel. Only ice and frozen snow over another layer of ice. It’s as though Virginia can’t decide if it’s a southern state or a northern one, and so what we often get is ice. I can’t help wondering if the ice storm could have been responsible for my blog server being down all day yesterday. Apologies to all readers who tried to log on but couldn’t. Hopefully our tails will be wagging again soon.

I am so glad you are back on……be careful with all that ice. xoxo
PS Where I post my comment is different…is it suppose to be??

Good morning, Colleen. I’m visiting from Michele’s site–and it’s good to see that both of you are up and running again.
The picture of your dog, Jazz, was weird to see for me. He looks so much like my girlfriend’s dog Moe that it’s uncanny. As for the weather, we’ve not snow here today but they’re forecasting it for Sunday. Wheee–I just can’t wait.
I hope you’re careful on that ice, Colleen. I don’t want you getting hurt…

Good Morning Colleen…I’m here from Michele this morning, but would have come by myself, anyway, you know? Lots of “server” problems these days…So glad you are back on line again, dear Colleen…And I’m glad to be here visiting your Icy Virginia world.

Beautiful shot. I’ve been following that storm on the news. Wishing you all warmth!
The in-betweenness is interesting; when I moved from NY to Boston I noticed that Boston had more snow but fewer ice storms. Mary told me that when she lived in the DC area it took only 4 inches of snow to bring the city to a standstill. People abandoned their cars on the road.

Hi Michele sent me. We have that same look here. Our ice is on top of our snow. I grew up in VA, I know what a little ice can do!

This photo is infused with a haunting beauty that almost convinces me that this weather is worth waiting for. Great imagery once again.

And my mom still talks about moving back to Roanoke, her home town. I can see how she would fare on a replaced knee and hip….probably have to have the others done as well. Driving is treacherous on the ice. Dallas had more ice than snow and it basically shut things down.
It seemed as if we could read your posts but it wouldn’t accept any comments. At least it didn’t eat posts like Typepad has been doing for several days now.

Awe! Cute little pup!
I remember when I was like 7 years old my whole neighboorhood was a solid sheet of ice for like a week. We all went iceskating in the back yards! Great fun!!!
As an adult- I’m not sure I’d be too fond of it!
Take care

Our best friends in S. Carolina has been without power since early Thursday morning. They have gas heat, so they’re not freezing, but ice has broken limbs down over power lines… Hope you are safe, etc.
We went through the same thing here three years ago. 46 hours without power, heat; but we had water.

Lovely photo. I can see that it would probably be very slippery. Jazzy looks like a nice girl.

Hope the ice storm didn’t disrupt life too much.

Too cold to wag my tail!
