Truth or Lies
The following are the answers to yesterday’s “Liar Liar Pants on Fire” Challenge:
1. I have hitchhiked before. We called it “thumbing.” It was the late 1970s, and I was probably inspired by the lyrics of the song Me and Bobby Mcgee… Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained…It rode us all the way into New Orleans. I did it by myself but only in the small town I grew up in.
2. I’ve flown in a helicopter before. It was in Arizona. My husband and I hiked 18 miles into the Grand Canyon and camped on the Havasupi Indian Reservation. After a few days of camping, the plan was to head out on horse back, but the ride into the small Havasupi town broke skin on my husband’s backside and so we hired one of their helicopters. I think it cost $150, but the unforgettable views while riding over the canyon made it worth it.
1. This is the lie! I don’t have ruby red slippers like Dorothy, but not for a lack of trying. I’ve always wanted a pair, but they only make them in little girl’s sizes. Do you think I could get some on Ebay?
2. I have never used an ATM machine. I wouldn’t know how. I use cash, a credit card, or checks and have never felt the need to learn. Am I missing something?
Four people got it right, Theo, Kenju, Srp, and Mar, and four guessed that never using an ATM machine was the lie. 3 thought I never rode in a helicopter and 2 guessed I never hitchhiked before. Thanks everyone for playing!
Photo: The hitchhiker is my son Josh. He’s a walking art installation.

Hooray! I saw it too,a nd I want to know what my prize is….LOL.
The best thing about an ATM is that you can get cash or make a deposit when the bank is closed. This comes in handy sometimes, but the tip is never to get cash at an ATM that is not at your back. Otherwise, you pay through the nose for the privilege.
I thought it was possible that you had not used an ATM, but you don’t strike me as the ruby slippers kind of woman (too “feet on the ground” so to speak)! My boss needed ruby slippers for a mannikin dressed like Dorothy at a theme party, so he went to Goodwill and bought a pair of women’s shoes, spray painted them red and sprinkled them with red glitter. Pretty cheap way of doing it!

So sorry I missed this first time round..but I did not look at the answers and I guessed #1..Was I ever wrong!
I honestly thought you had a pair of Ruby Slippers! (lol) Well, you should!
And ATM? Yes, you are missing a lot! It’s a GREAT convenience…and fast and a lot easier than trying to do the Blog Rolling stuff, or anything on the side of our blogs! (lol) Truly..it’s great!

Kenju, It must be that my interest Ruby Red Slippers fits right in with my love of kaleidoscopes…and dressing in costume, which you can see from the above photo my son has inherited. I’ve thought of the spray painting idea but it sounds like too much work and somehow I’d know they weren’t real…and so not magic!
Naomi, I’m laughing at the blogrolling comment!

Michele sent me this time 🙂
Wow – never used an ATM?? That is really weird lol You just stick your check card in it, enter your pin number and the amount of money you want from your checking account, and it shoots the money out at you 🙂 Real simple and easy 🙂 LOL
You can get anything on ebay, and here are the results for
Ruby Red Slippers
Your son in that picture just cracks me up 😀

Hi, Michele sent me.
I’m a little dissapointed you don’t have Ruby Slippers.

I have Ruby-Red slippers, but my matching tutu is a three-three.

You could always get a pair of red Mary Janes and hot glue shiny red sequins all over them. Or glue red glitter all over them.

I kind of like the no-ATM part. There’s something to be said for rejecting technologies that accelerate our world to speeds too fast for us to effectively manage.

Oh man, I really wanted to go two for two. I look foward to the next time we get to play.

You need those slippers!
This was fun.

This sounds like fun. Wish I could have played, but I only got here from Michele’s today…
Definitely try the ATM. It makes life so much more convenient..

Great stuff! Lovely pic! 🙂

Blows me right away. I never dreamed there was anybody left in the world who hadn’t used an ATM.
Am oddly jealous of that.

I have never been in a helicopter.. I can just imagine the view. My husband and I have talked about trying a balloon ride this spring.. it has always been one of his dreams.

I too have looked for dorothy slippers to no avail. I thought you must have found some. We should open a shoe company together!
