Local Bloggers Unite
A support group? A union? A class or convention? There was talk of track backs, permalinks, and spam. Mostly, we enjoyed meeting each other, some for the first time. We were old bloggers, new bloggers, wanna-be bloggers, and blog readers. The lap tops were lit up and the stats were compared. I learned that bloggers are an enthusiastic bunch, happy to find each other.
Photos: We met at Floyd’s wireless Café Del Sol. The first photo shows Jamie of Jamie’s World and Doug of Blue Ridge Muse on the right. In the second photo David from Ripples is standing on the left, Leslie of Squirrel Spur is in the center, and Fred of Fragments From Floyd is standing on the right. Go visit David for another perspective on our blogger’s day out. His photos came out better than mine.

I’ve never met another blogger in real life. Some of my family and friends blog, but I knew them before they started. I always wonder what it would be like to meet some of the people whose words I read every day!

It was a terrific day and wonderful to meet you all! I couldn’t figure out how to get a link on the Roanoke times page; I emailed them to ask. I’ll be there, yet, though!

That would be fun (but a bit unnerving for me, too.)

I really enjoyed this post! I have been thinking about the friendships in blogworld lately…there are truly amazing! I am glad others feel the same way! Yes, my visits lately have been terrible…I’m sorry! I will be better!!! Yes, “I’m Gonna Have To Face It, I’m Addicted To”…Scrabble!
Still working on placement to get my points higher though! LOL

That looks like fun! I have hoped to meet some local bloggers around here, but so far, no one has offered to get us all together. I’m the new guy on the block, so to speak, so I think some of the older ones should organize it.

Looks like a good time, had by all. Whenever I read your blog, I get nearly overwhelmed with homesickness for my small town self.
And I have no idea what possessed me to let your blog’s birthday slip past without comment. I’m just an awful, awful human being. It’s inexcuseable that I have nothing but belated cheer to offer up. I’m quite glad you’re around, and hope you will be for a good long time to come.

I’ve yet to meet a blog buddy in the flesh. Well–I actually met one guy whose blog I read before I started blogging, so I guess he counts. A group like this would help me at least with some of the technical stuff I don’t understand about actually “blogging” on a computer. Seems like you guys discuss the more creative aspects as well. I do know of a New Jersey bloggers website. Maybe the members Meet-Up sometimes.
Have a good weekend.

Hi Colleen, I wish I could have been ther…I heard it was a lot of fun!

That is so cool. I wish I could have been there.
There is something so magical about gathering around with other like-minded folks in a well-serviced Internet cafe. When I discovered a brand new coffee shop while on vacation a few months ago, I was in heaven.
Alas, I was the only one in there with a laptop. How much more fun it would have been to be among friends.

This is sooo interesting. I would love to meet some of my fellow bloggers in person.
