Word Drunk
The Irish were intoxicated by the power of words. Every noble Irish family maintained a family of ancestral poets. The Irish sons of Mil were accompanied by their poet, Amhairghin… ~ From How the Irish Saved Civilization by Thomas Cahill
Word Drunk
I’ve been pulled over
for driving while doing it
I’ve stayed up late
doing it alone
I’ve nursed hangovers
and mixed metaphors
My house is littered
with half filled notebooks
of unreadable scrawl
and dried out pens
have collected in the cracks
between the cushions of my couch
Post Note: I’m going to take a nap and sober up now.

I’m definately Irish!LOL I have so many notebooks around here that as Kerry would say, “have scribble-scrabble” in them. The only time it gets to me, is if I’m trying to find notes for something specific and I have to search through *ALL* the notebooks to find what I’m looking for!

Our family has quite a bit of Irish at the core, and the red hair to prove it. Very opinionated. Can be a bit hot headed. Love the concept of being drunk with words.

I don’t have much Irish in me (I’m mostly of Scottish and French extraction) but I too find myself drunk on words from time to time. My question is this: who’s the designated driver when we go on our word benders? 🙂
Great post, as always.

Loved this post SO much, Colleen. With regards to Jeanne’s comment above … I believe the designated drivers are our readers. 🙂
