Fooling Around
“You couldn’t fool your mother on the foolingest day of your life even if you had an electrified fooling machine.” — Homer Simpson
I’m a fool who loves fooling but can’t keep a straight face while doing it. I prefer to be the fooler rather than the foolee, but I feel a certain pressure trying to come up with some foolproof foolery when mass foolishness is scheduled on one particular day of the year.
In my case, I got off on the wrong fooling foot. I can still remember my reaction when an older kid explained to me that on April 1st you were supposed to do something like change the salt in the salt shaker to sugar and put sugar in the salt shaker. Coming from a family of 9 kids on a working class budget, I knew it would be folly to fool with family food. Doing something like that in my house could get you killed, which has nothing to do with funny.
April Fool’s Day makes me suspicion. Who can be trusted? You can’t count on anyone to tell the truth or act normal. The worst part of the problem is that I remember on March 31st about April Fool’s Day, but then for some reason on April 1st I wake up gullible.
And what is the significance that April Fools happens the same time our clocks are getting switched to a new time?

In the paper they had a story that apples are being grown with a bar code on them!

What a cute picture! I would rather be the fooler instead of the foolee too; but I am too naive to be the former. I didn’t even realize that Martha’s show yesterday was an April Fool’s show until someone pointed it out…..LOL
Michele sent me this time, but you know I’m here everyday.

Kenju, your comment got me searching for what went on on Martha Stewart. Here’s a good link of April Fool’s in the News. http://www.cyberjournalist.net/features/aprilfools.htm

I can relate to what you said about getting “killed” for pranks that would not sit well. Speaking of “sitting well” – I did a story that relates to that for my April fools entry. I can’t believe my friends and I used to do this.
Cute picture of Matt, Patrick and you. Makes me want to kiss them too.

April Fool’s was so not a part of our family tradition. I didn’t know anything about it until I was a teenager. I have a friend who plays an elaborate joke on her mother every year; and every year her mom falls for it.
Strange how bloggers hit on the same subjects; a commenter on my blog last week did a beautiful wildlife post. Looking forward to your post about FF.

My husband Joe just got home and told me he fell for a spoof aired on NPR. They were doing a piece on an I-BOD. Something you attach to your body that regulates heart rate, pulse, etc. He knew something was up when they said you could put it on excercise and it would do it for you!
At first I thought FF meant Floyd Fest and I was scrathing my head, but I get it now!

As the mother of the master pupeteer brother and the one on your lap helping you to be the ventriloquest in the photo I have to say that Patrick (on lap) won’t believe me that his picture is on your blog! He thinks I’m trying to prank him for April fools day! Too funny ha?

Trish, Please explain to my prodigy Patrick that a ventriloquist dummy is a doll in the is case. It doesn’t mean what he thinks it does. I’ve been trying to remember all day something that happened last year when you thought I was April foolin you…posting something over and over?? Can you remember?

I can never think of anything good to do for April Fool’s until it’s too late…thus, this day sucks for me 😉

I love the picture…the love just shines through.
I had Martin going on one for a while and the poor thing was just trying to be so nice about it all that I just caved.
Delane almost really had me when he told me he had dropped his camera, again. My mouth just dropped until I remembered what day it was.

Heh, my body decided to play the April Fool’s joke on me. I thought I’d gotten over getting migraines, but woke up yesterday with a killer. Stupid April Fool’s Day. Stupid migraine.
*grin*

I once poured water in the milk carton and fooled my dad…that was the extent of my april fool’s day as a kid.

I remember putting sugar in the salt shaker and salt in the sugar shaker and my poor father, who got up before the @$$crack of dawn didn’t get to have his cup of coffee one time cause of it. I felt SOOOOO bad!
This April Fool’s Day I spent with my friend while she received visitors and family. Her husband had passed away the previous Saturday and he specifically said he didn’t want a memorial service or funeral. So it wasn’t either…but we did think of him all day!
