A Double Header
Some people play Scrabble for a living. Not me. Although, I did just play two games in two days. I won one, and I lost one, but not as bad as Mara, who can be seen in the photo above with a big L for LOSER on her forehead.
Mara is forced to play blindfolded. Or, I snapped the camera quickly because I was trying to get the man in the background, who was wearing a shirt that said PAGAN on it, but he turned just as Mara’s girlfriend Leigh went to set the bag down and the camera caught it, seemingly in mid-air.
Woman in purple turns Leigh’s head. Should Mara be jealous?
Note: More SCRABBLE antics HERE.

She doesn’t look jealous – just miffed! I’d love a good old-fashioned Scrabble fest with anyone who loves to play. I can’t stop at just one game!
Michele sent me.

That really does look like it could be a blindfold, or at the very least, something to keep Mara from actually seeing the board and her letters!
That is an interesting Scrabble Board..is it one of those that is like a magnet? I noticed it in your last post about the game at your friends house where the cat allowed you to keep her place warm, for her..which I loved, as I told you!
Scrabble has come a long long way in the last 50 some odd years….My mother had a “prototype” game because it was brand new and someone connected to the Scrabble people were giving these boards and wooden tiles to people to see if they liked the whiole idea of this game. She did! And we did, too! And the rest, as they say, is history!

Both boards have raised grids so that the letter can’t slide around, but Alex’s board is the fancier one. I’m reading “Word Freak,” which includes a history of the game. It’s fascinating! If you still had your mother’s game, it would probably be worth a fortune.

Well at least you won one. That is what is important. (They say winning isn’t important but it sure can be fun!)
Love the L shot.

Blindfolded Scrabble sounds about as much fun as Cat Chess….

Congrats on going 1 for 2!
Someone last week was describing going out to dinner with a group from out of town and it struck them as funny that one of the guys was taking photos of his steak. They couldn’t figure out why anyone would take photos of his food. They said “he was snapping photos of everything.” I told them “He’s a blogger! Nobody takes photos of dinner unless they are thinking about blogging it.”

Ha! That’s hilarious, Delane, and that would be me!
Not only was I “one for two” but I beat Alex, which is quite a feat, and got my second ever Scrabble Bingo (worth an extra 50 points)!

Yes, my daughter took a picture of a bad ear of corn she was served in a restaurant (in a town made famous by its corn) to post on her blog. I haven’t started taking pictures for mine yet, but I’ve only been at it since the end of June. I have started pulling the albums apart.
The family of one of my mother’s sets of grandparents was originally from Massachusetts and the other from Virginia.

One of these days I’m going to show up at one of those Scrabble games–even though I know you’d all whip my butt.

You played Scrabble like I picked figs today! Doubleheader.

Funny…I’m a good scrabble player, but the last half dozen times I’ve played Colleen, she’s won…or at least come close to winning. I think the good conversation distracts me. Either that, or our proximity somehow ruins our ability to get good letters.
I hope we have time to play again before the semester’s over, Colleen!
