Listen to the Bearded Lady
Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid or something? Oh no. It’s just they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future. ~ The Princess Bride
The answers to last week’s Halloween Costume Contest, which you can review HERE, are as follows.
1. Sally, owner of the Café Del Sol.
2. Yes, it’s true, *Amy, Deana, srp, Keda, and Ruth* you all guessed right! It’s me dressed in my thrift shop elegance. Besides my accomplice husband, only one person guessed it was me, and I remained anonymous all night. When I tried to order beer at the bar, Sally demanded to see either my face or my ID. I showed her my hand and pointed out an age spot, but she didn’t fall for it.
3. Mysterious alien wearing a blue feathered boa remains mysterious to even me. She got the most votes.
4. The bearded lady is actually my friend, Bob. He won first prize for his costume and antics. (I think he offered special favors to the judges … wink… wink.)
Other news: I’m happy to report that my post “The Pink Raft” won a Perfect Post Award, hosted the first of each month by MommaK at Petroville. After getting such encouraging feedback for the entry, I began to think maybe I should start a Pink Raft Society like the Red Hat Ladies. Do you think the idea would float?

Hey! I guessed it!
(Thrift shops are grand!)
Pink Rafters would certainly float and add buoyancy to many people’s lives!!! (Buoyant Babes?!)

I think we all have a bit of the pink raft in us, if we just listen a bit. Sometimes it’s hard to be still.

Yeah! Aren’t you glad no one guessed you as the bearded lady?
Congrats on your perfect post for the pink raft….that was a great post and well deserved award!
If you start the society may I use a big blown up flamingo instead of the flat raft….you know I always like my goodies “tricked” up!

Congrats My Dear Colleen on your Perfect Post Award…Isn’t that a nice idea? I love that it is some that many people can recieve by others and that it is different each month AND that is is based on one’s “feelings” about what they read and how it touched them in some way—weather being moved or making you laugh, or inspired…I think you should start a “society” and YES, I think it will definitely float! (lol)

Congratulations. Sounds like you struck a chord.

I like you with your face painted black. It is definitely sort of menacing, I guess it’s the way you painted it. You all look like you had a great, mischevious time!

It’s a plastic mask. As soon as I put it on I had no voice. It was fun to be out of personality. I felt liberated but also lonely at times because I know one knew me.
I did manage to drink a beer by sneaking the bottle up underneath the mask.

I saw a pink raft up in Salisbury this weekend…tried to get a photo of it, but it was too far away. Made me think of you! And I also saw a gaggle of Red Hat Ladies LOL: “There I was in line at a Dunkin Donuts…a gaggle of Red Hat Ladies in front of me, giggling and ordering coffee…”
