I Love 13 Thursday
1. I just sent an email to a friend and ended it with: I’m up to my white streak with packing for our trip to Florida. Because we’ll be in the camper, we take everything, even the kitchen sink!
2. I said to my husband last night, “It’s cold with a capitol F! You can fill in any adjective or expletive that you choose.”
3. The temperatures have been so F-rigid that my teeth that are sensitive to cold have been acting up.
4. I woke up wondering: If you went to Las Vegas to gamble and you were losing big, would you cut your losses or keep borrowing more from the bank and your family members to try to dig yourself out of the hole?
5. And then: What gave Bush the right to gamble our money and our youth on such a risky bet in Iraq in the first place?
6. When my son Dylan was 6 years old he said, “If they come and say you have to go to war, I’ll say ‘why don’t you?’”
7. Do spammers ever get weekends off? Do they really think we’re going to fall for their phony flattery?
8. It takes me twice as long to write for business as it does to write for fun, which is why I try to make fun my business and my business fun.
9. I’ve always thought it would be a fun job to make-up the words and sayings for candy hearts, or come up with names for colors of paint.
10. How come when my computer slows up I’m even more inclined to start clicking to escape the slow-up, which makes the thing go even slower?!
11. In last week’s list I mentioned the January Peace March in DC. Since then, I found a good short video of the day’s event. It’s a mix of clips and/or interviews with an Iraqi Vet, a mayor, a couple of congressmen and women, and a few big name movie stars and starts HERE.
12. Have you ever noticed that LOVE, SOLVES, EVOLVE, REVOLVE, and RESOLVE are basically variations of the same word, as if there is a grand agreement that love solves and evolves us.
13. Make your own candy heart message HERE.
Thursday headquarters is here. My other 13’s are here. View more 13 Thursday’s here.

hmmm…I’ll have to remember your question when I’m in Vegas in June! Have a GREAT time in Florida!!!
February 8th, 2007 12:39 am
About 25 years ago I typed up (on a typewriter, before my computer days) a picture poem that started with repetitions of “LOVE” laid like bricks on the bottom, then grew less regular with repetitions of “EVOLVE” and then became airborne in wing-like formations with repetitions of the word “VOL”.
I can identify with #10. I’ve since laid out a sheet of watercolor paper and a bunch of differently-colored Sharpies, so that I can doodle while I wait.
Where in Florida will you be?

not sure where you will be in Florida, but if it’s in the central area, you will be glad to know that we are finally starting to break 70* again. it was a chilly (by Florida standards anyway) for the last few weeks! our highs were barely reaching the low 50s!
happy T13!

Me too, on making up paint names!
Enjoy your vacation to WARM Florida. If it’s not warm enough for you there, come on over to Texas and we will have sweet tea and sit a spell!

I often wonder about #5 myself…it hits close to home now. My best friend’s husband is in Iraq in a very dangerous area (but then again, which areas aren’t dangerous?)
My 13 are up.
February 8th, 2007 11:29 am
We’re headed for Gainsville and then Cedar Key….will maybe see Terri from Island Writer. I’ll try not to collect too many rocks and bog the camper down. I’ll post when I can…and take photos!

Oh, I’d LOVE to make up color names. That would be so much fun, choosing words that make you feel the way the color feels. We’re about to paint our house “warm sienna”… and sure enough, the color is close to the color of the soil in Sienna.
My favorite intriguing color name of late… one of the VW Beetles was a serene but pallid blue… and they named the color… Vapor.
I played.

I liked the great your own conversation heart utility…though I couldn’t come up with a message to put in. I would choose the Goth hearts.

Bush was elected by a majority of the people as well as the most electoral votes. And he is overspending, but this doesn’t mean he should not have enforced the UN demands that were ignored for 12 years, and apparently, most all of Congress agreed. And I find it interesting to frame a soldier’s life, career, and valor as something to be avoided at all costs. Maybe you can this out for a different perspective:

Regarding the war, last time you mentioned that this was an unnecessary war, and I asked you to list the necessary wars and how they were different from today. Still waiting for your response…

I think this comment was lost a few days ago, but I’d love to write fortunes for cookies! I’d also love to write those poetic flowery descriptions of the clothes in The Coldwater Creek catalogues!
