How Now Floyd Cow?
These days Floyd reads like a fairytale. In this storybook one traffic light town I live in, we buy food at the Harvest Moon, hear music at the Winter Sun, eat lunch Over the Moon, and see the latest in local art Under the Sun. Last week I met an artist named Jennifer Spoon at Over the Moon to buy a collage for the Hotel Floyd Writer’s Room. We did not eat pie in the sky.
Post Notes: To see the Cow That Jumped Over the Moon and landed at the driveway entrance and to read about her sidekick, go HERE. More Floyd goings on can be found by scrolling down in my “Where I Live” archives HERE.

There is just no other place like Floyd, is there? How can you be upset when you live in a groovin’ place like this? I think it would be fun to eat pie in the sky. 😉

Maybe that’s what made the cow jump over the moon, trying to eat pie in the sky!

I got this from the Wikipedia: “How now brown cow” is a phrase used in elocution teaching to demonstrate rounded vowel sounds. The original words came from a nursery rhyme from the 19th century.
Also, I was amazed at how many times and ways it has been used in movies. Everybody from Will Ferrel to Urma Thruman and Homer Simpson have said it. They didn’t site the Monkey song though. I know it because my dad used to say it to us, along with many other nursery rhyme ditties (many of which he made up)

Yes, another cafe with a SUN reference. We also have a computer shop named Blue Nova.
I found out that Sally, the owner, went on vacation and forgot to schedule an employee to open that night. http://looseleafnotes.com/notes/2007/08/sidewalk_poets.html#comments

Per #5.
It is sad to say, but I didn’t realize that the alphabet was in essence a poem until last year. I guess it easier than trying to remember: aqzipkecdzwx…….. 🙂

It sounds like the kind of storybook that I could read every day of my life, Colleen. Every time you write about your town, I think of poetry, so this entry is highly appropriate.

Oops, almost forgot: Michele asked me to come by for a visit. She didn’t have to ask, mind you. I would have come regardless. Good to e-see you again!
