Love those shots. I am particularly taken with that red mushroom surrounded by the greenry. Very nice.

What kind of plant is that, surrounding the red mushroom? Is the mushroom growing on a rotting log with a branch of a conifer lying across it? Such a curious contrast – one that is not often seen!

I don’t know what the fern like plant is or the red mushroom. It was just growing out of the ground. I was certainly surprised to come across it. I was on a litter collecting walk with the foster care resident who visits me from time to time and we were walking near my house, along a dirt road that parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway. It reminds me of Christmas!

Those are some really nice shots, Colleen. I particularly like the red mushroom in the lovely ferny green foliage. A wonderful mix of textures.
