I love these tulips… they have a lot of them planted at the Norfolk Botanical Garden this year. I also saw one that looked like a striped pink and white. One petal white and the next a bubble gum pink. Beautiful!

I wish tulips would last a little longer…

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. The one pictured is a late blooming tulip, the only one of a number I planted that comes up. The ones in the background are gone already. They do go faster than most other flowering plants.

these are exquisite! the ones we planted from holland are trying to open now, the late bloomers of our garden. we hope they’ll look like their photographs in the catalog! all our others have been blooming a week or so. out returning rains will tear the petals of those which are fully open. 🙁 hoping we can get some pics before the damage is done.

One year when my oldest son was very young, he came in the house so happy to be giving me a lovely bunch of yellow tulips just in time for Mother’s Day.
Only problem was: He’d picked them from a neighbor’s yard, leaving bare leaves and a bit of stem down the whole row. And this neighbor had never been a particular fan of my son.
I can still see his little grinning face, missing front teeth and all. He meant well…
