13 Thursday Flash Back
1. Hey, where is everyone? I went through my sidebar blog links and discovered that half the people on the list aren’t blogging anymore.
2. Words and phrases heard this week: “a hoot called Boots,” “a pseudo sonnet,” and someone used fracus in a sentence.
3. I grew up calling corn “cawn” and shorts “shots.” I bet you can guess where I’m from.
4. Pulling fresh corn off their stalks (which I’ve been doing a lot of lately) feels too much like breaking bones.
5. I have an imaginary blog called Jabblog the Hut.
6. Sarah Palin may deny that she said ever said dinosaurs existed the same time as man 6,000 years ago (about 65 million years after scientists say most of them became extinct) but how does she explain THIS?
7. She recently confused language on living wills in health care reform as government death panels that would promote euthanasia. My own view on health care reform is HERE.
8. How to Keep an Idiot Busy (for at least a few minutes) HERE.
9. Brave Bryce HERE.
10. Whenever anyone calls me clever it feels like an insult and I feel like they think I’m trying to get away with something.
11. Here’s a line from my 13 Thursday posted this same time last August: While in Hull visiting my family an old friend was hitting on me. He’s done that since high school and I guess he feels compelled to keep up the charade. When I reminded him that I was happily married, he assured me that he was harmless, saying, “Don’t worry. I’m impotent.”
12. I got all chocked up watching the nightly news tonight. Brian Williams was reporting on the 40th anniversary of Woodstock and visiting with the couple (still together) huddled under a blanket in the image on the cover of the soundtrack album. My Woodstock story is HERE.
13. See You Later Alligator is today’s soundtrack, staring my favorite leading men HERE.
Turn on HERE for more 13 Thursdays.

number 10… i can relate 🙂
Truly Trying Thursday
August 13th, 2009 6:49 am
I’m still here…though on life support 🙂 I heard that Palin speech before, only I heard it via William Shatner reciting it verbatim as a poem that would have given the 1950 beat poets a run for their money! She’s such a source of humor, but at the same time she’s so dangerous. Now even Sen. Grassley is touting the death panels to his constituents.

I want to see all Bryce all the time sandy
August 13th, 2009 9:34 am
Bryan has real potential for that show…So, you think you can Dance?
August 13th, 2009 9:45 am
Oh no I used to love the feel of shucking corn, now I will imagine that. About half my old blog buddies have shut down. I need to clean off my sidebar. I try to get up at least once a week to my old friends like you and Naomi and Jade. I just can’t blog daily anymore! Maybe in the winter time!
August 13th, 2009 10:28 am
Have you read The Poisonwood Bible? Sarah sounds a lot like the (maybe not so fictional) Rachel in that book…
August 13th, 2009 11:31 am
Someone actually calls me ‘Alligator’ (in a sweet, fond way) hmmm…now I know where he may have gotten it from 🙂
August 13th, 2009 11:46 am
I haven’t read The Poisonwood Bible but have met its author here in Floyd.
Palin is as out there at GW was (evil empires etc) and look how popular he is not. Very polarizing.
August 13th, 2009 12:04 pm
Well, you’re certainly not from Texas. 🙂
I know what you mean about people disparaging. About half the people I used to hang out with when I first started aren’t blogging anymore either. It’s a pity because it makes it hard to stay in touch.
August 13th, 2009 12:04 pm
Very kewl about the couple on the album. Great list . Happy T13!
August 13th, 2009 12:08 pm
But I lived in Texas for 7 years! Ask Janet at Fond of Snape where I’m from.
August 13th, 2009 12:20 pm
Hi,
I think a lot of bloggers are taking the summer off–at least that’s what I’m hoping. I’m glad to still find your stimulating posts though. Happy TT!
August 13th, 2009 12:32 pm

You should catch up on Woodstock ! London is still worth a visit and you are feeling good now. Here in these little villages at the coast the time stood still. I am even angry when I see a car, it just doesn’t fit in the landscape !
August 13th, 2009 1:55 pm
I do love your randomness ;–)
Perhaps it’s time for me to check the links on MY blogrolls to see who’s still out there. Can it REALLY have been 40 years since Woodstock and if so, where did they go??? Thanks for dropping by Sacred Ruminations this morning.
Hugs and blessings,

Bryce is so grown-up looking…Time is flying by! I heard that Palin speech and didn’t understand it then or now…!
I think lots of people have noved over to FACEBOOK, which I don’t really understand because Blogging and Facebook are such two different animals, so to speak…And Twitter?? Well…another country heard from…..lol! That link to the moving “press”….OY! LOL!
August 13th, 2009 9:36 pm
Bryce has rhythm!!
You kept this idiot busy for a moment…..LOL
August 13th, 2009 10:39 pm
WOW………..Byrce looks so much older. I hope I get to see him soon. What did Trish think of him? xox
August 13th, 2009 10:59 pm
He looks more of a boy than a baby! He just got his hair cut. I don’t even remember what Trish thought of him because when he’s around he’s all I see. I do know that she LOVED Floydfest and had a great time here.
I love that idiot game. I actually caught the press once and it said YOU WON. I haven’t been able to repeat it.
August 14th, 2009 11:29 am
Well, in my book you are magnitudes higher than “clever”. You are deeply intelligent, insightful, and brilliant. Happy Friday Colleen!!
August 14th, 2009 11:47 am
Wow, thank you, Poe! I think of clever as a trick. Here’s what I got when I looked up clever. It all sounds good enough except the part that on “superficially skillful.”
mentally bright; having sharp or quick intelligence; able.
superficially skillful, witty, or original in character or construction; facile: It was an amusing, clever play, but of no lasting value.
showing inventiveness or originality; ingenious

Vice President Palin. Not. We sure are living in interesting times, aren’t we? Speaking for myself, I’m not blogging as much because (1) it is miserably hot and I have no energy and (2) I’m tired of all the rancor in the community-at-large and just want to go hide.
