Like Asking Me to Go To the Moon
Landing at the pool for the first time in August and the second time all summer, feels like visiting another planet. I’ve been trying for days to get here and now here I am all geared up and ready for take-off. My tankini, flip flops, beach bag, and sun visor feels like an astronaut pool suit. A single poolside lounger set apart becomes my space station as I acclimate myself to the conditions. The climate is hot and wet. The glare off the water and the reverberation of children’s squealing voices seems other worldly. And then it happens. I take the plunge. Now I’m a Martian. Weightless. One small step. One giant leap. I’m in my element. The Cool Blue brings me back to my senses.

Lucky I made it cause today is another wash out. My feet are cold and I’m gonna take a bath just to warm them up.

Coincidentally, I posted a Blast From the Past last week entitled, “The Drowning Pool”. It’s about swimming lessons (and how I dreaded them) as a child. You might find it fun.
Where is THIS pool?

It’s the Great Oaks Country Club pool where my husband plays golf. It’s about five miles up the parkway and then some from my house. We never swam in pools growing up because we were surrounded by the ocean and bay on a six mile peninsula only as wide as a road in some places.

Spent some time at our new community pool last weekend with my grandchildren. I didn’t get any exercise unless you call lifting and re-lifting the little guy to the top of the floating crab slide exercise!

Let’s hear it for the other world of the swimming pool, whatever shape it takes. Ain’t nothing like swimming. So much fun, and so relaxing. God bless, Colleen!

if i could stand to put my name and “swimsuit” even as close as words in the same sentence i would have been swimming every day when we were up in the 90s/100s. now we are back in the 60s but headed to 70s by weekend. summer is flying by.

I haven’t made it to the town pool this year but I’ve had my swimsuit on most of the summer. The dock and pond swimming spoiled me having it so close by. And it seems our pool outings have taken us far from home!
