Night Altar
Sun’s gold
silver-polished
Black Madonna’s
holy chalice
A ceremonial
grail of moon
perceived half empty
or believed half full

Colleen, have you ever read the novel by Author
Sue Monk Kidd: The Secret Life of Bees? It’s theme has the
Black Madonna in it.

Yes, I loved that book. I saw the movie too. I had heard of the Black Madonna before that though, in a woman’s circle I think.

I too loved the book. My mother who is a avid reader gave that to me last year while visiting the fam. And yes, the movie came out not to long after. I have to say, I liked the book better. . .my imagination was more involved in what word pictures came to my mind.

I liked the book better too. My sister Sherry lent it to me and I read it mostly in Hull! A good beach vacation and airplane travel book.
I saw Oprah or Della Reese in Queen Latifah’s role.

Beautiful picture and Beautiful Poem, too, Colleen! I didn’t read the book, just saw the movie and something was lacking—not exactly sure what….Something in the script.
