Ice Escapades
We were driven out of our house by ice escapades, laden trees dropping bombs of ice on to our roof.
With a gunshot cue, they were off like a stampede of horses at the races, like ladies at Filenes Basement, like Santa’s reindeer landing his sleigh.
Fireworks were exploding. Mudslides were sloshing. Limbs were breaking and squirrels were fighting over nuts.
We went out to investigate the damage, taking cover under an umbrella because it was raining ice, not from the sky, but from the trees as ice melted off in an avalanche of chunks.

What an intense entry!!
Ice can be so beautiful and so dangerous. Almost like a rose with thorns. xo

Ice caper aids the ice-citement of the quiet day. Meh hrumph – your captions are much more animated.Lovely scene.

It sounds like a blitz when the ice starts to melt. I didn’t get any photos that matched the intensity of sound on our roof that went on for hours.

I saw on the news that you were getting snow, then ice, and we were going to just get rain. Actually, being an amateur photographer, I was just a little jealous. Glad you are OK though.

Ice, to me, is like fire. Beautiful but deadly. The photos are wonderful but I am betting you are glad it is all gone. Our pond went from frozen to flooding so I hope my fish are okay. I guess I need to have more faith in nature. It has been around much longer than me! Our schools are out again because of some classroom flooding and roads broken away by the heavy waters.
Tell me more about Pine Tavern? I used to so love going there. And my girls and I have been looking for a fun lunch date back to Floyd one weekend.

We woke up yesterday to our cellar partially flooded due to rain water seeping into the foundation. That hasn’t happened before in the 28 years we’ve lived here.
It’s the renowned chef of the Pine Tavern who has opened a new place, Mickey G’s. Excellent! I posted about it today.
