13: A Spring Thing
1. There’s such a fine line between precious and precocious.
2. Today while studying an azalea bloom up close, I remembered THIS
3. I think of spring as a flirt kind of twirling its skirt.
4. My latest fashion statement: a brightly colored pen tucked behind my ear.
5. I follow my mind around with a pen and notebook and think about how Rumi’s students followed him around and wrote down all the poetry he spouted.
6. Seen at Pearl’s: Way, way back, poetry was an aid to memory, the repository for heritage, ancestry, and the lineage of one’s cattle. Professional rememberers knew the formulas for oral poetry and could recite the story of a people’s creation, battles won and lost, the coming of animals into the world.
7. There’s a new Facebook group I like the sound of. It’s called, “How about we stop blaming Barack Obama for everything George Bush did.”
8. A bird, such as an eagle, needs two wings to fly. A bird is a system. Government is a system. The right is not the enemy of the left but the complimentary and necessary counterpart. Losing sight of this reality is sure to bring ruin to bird or nation. ~ Said by my Floyd friend Will Bason on Facebook.
9. Has this ever happened to you? There are voices coming out of my brand new computer. At first I thought I was hearing phone conversations but now I think it’s a radio station. I just heard someone say “San Francisco.”
10. Why is it that spammers leaving comments always compliment me? Do they think flattery will stop me from hitting delete?
11. For a small window of time (like right now) three blooms converge in a symphony of color in the corner of my yard. Dogwood, azalea, and baby irises come in one after the other co-exist together like colorful layered fruit of an English trifle.
12. Yesterday I saw a pair of overweight robins and wondered if they like eating worms like we like French fries.
13. My husband just walked in the room and called me “Collicious.” I think it’s a compliment.

At the moment spammers are copying legitimate comments, some of them are getting through the filter, it’s so annoying. I love the image of #5.
BTW, there is an extra comma in your link at T13 making it not work, I don’t know if you can edit it.

I really, REALLY like your depiction in words of what Spring is….that is most excellent. [ps…your link at T13 hub is broken, you may wish to go and repost?]
My thirteen is photos of historical homes in town. Come by to view if you’d like. I’d love your company today. My Tour

About #12: I wondered if I was the only one who noticed that the robins are unusually big and fat this year! I wonder if the wetter weather we’ve had has resulted in more worms—and perhaps bigger and fatter worms? (Or, to carry the french fry comparison further, super-sized worms?)

Happy T13!

I think fat robins are probably a sign of something, but I am not sure what.

Thanks for the broken link heads up. That’s probably why I got no comments from Wordless Wednesday yesterday.
The robins are as big as crows now!

LOL about the spammers! I noticed that too; they always say you’ve written an interesting post, and they’d love to hear more, etc! I’d love to thank them, if only they were real and actually read my posts! =P

The azalea blossom up close looks like the Rolling Stones tongue. I guess it would have helped if I had a picture of the bloom with its stamen sticking out.
April 30th, 2010 3:35 pm
I love your thought about the Robin and worms…lol! And I never realized that the only thing coming between precious and precocious was an “O”…..!
Do you feel there are less and less people blogging now? I sure do. And it also feels like they have all become addicted to Facebook…!

I like the compliment spammers better than the old trolling arguments spam. the one that copies the comment above in English or translates to Spanish has my filters baffled tho. How to keep ahead of these bots?
Yes, some oral poetry is far more useful than pop songs with chorus and bridge of rather dull-witted sentiments. we could use some snappy tunes for useful how to live information.
