The 13 Thursday Grapevine
1. While setting up my house for the 16 Hands Art Tour, My Asheville Potter Son Josh asked me : “Do we have wireless?” I answered, “Yes, and we also have a hula hoop.”
2. Speaking of hoops, I’ve seen my friend Ilima dance with fire, with a sword balanced on her head, and now with a hula hoop HERE.
3. Funniest thing heard over the weekend while directing Josh on the new computer: “First you open the Mozzarella Fire Fox.”
4. Favorite song of late, turned on to me by Josh and guaranteed to choke you up HERE.
5. When Josh was a little boy he used to set up battles between blueberries and grapes. The blueberries always lost because, being his favorite, he ate them.
6. When my younger son Dylan was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, his usual answer was: A sniper.
7. You can call me nosey, or you can call me curious. You can say I like gossip or you can say I like biographies. It’s all a matter of degree and how you say a thing.
8. Why do we say animals have fur but people have hair?
9. Duh. I just now realized the play on the name Five Penny Farm, a local organic farm which is mentioned in a story I’m working on about Floyd’s Farm to School Program: the family’s last name is Nichols.
10. Recently seen on Facebook, written by my Floyd poet friend Will Bason about the powers that be: It’s not simply that the emperor has no clothes, he’s mooning us!
11. Which reminds me of this old poem I wrote about 20 years ago: It’s a poet’s job … to say … The emperor wore no clothes … and … Why can’t we all … let ourselves be … so X-posed.
12. In my next life I want a walk-in closet and my nearly nudist husband wants a life where no one wears clothes.
13. Are you THAT kind of girl?
Note: The photo above is from one of my son Josh’s collages. More on that HERE. Follow the trail to more 13 Thursdays HERE.

love my walk-in, but i want an entire room for a closet in my next life…one i can put a loveseat in with built-ins all around – shelving, cabinets, drawers, etc. i want a bar built in the center with pull outs which will contain scarves, jewelry, sunglasses, purses, etc. i have been designing this for several years in my mind!
storage is something i can never have too much of.

Chris Youngblood could probably educate us on the difference between hair and fur, since she raises poodles. While most other dogs have fur, poodles have hair.

I would wear these shoes…but might have a hard time finding a patterned dress that I like to go with them.

I googled and found out that fur and hair are chemically the same but they have different growth patterns. Fur is thicker and shed more. http://www.vetinfo.com/dog-fur-hair-difference.html

I wish I could remember the answer to #8. it perplexed me for years then someone explained it very well and I was so relieved to have that resolved that I relaxed and totally forgot the answer. But I can tell you it was very good. Ain’t memory a kick.
