The 16 Hands New Pot Stop
As the newest member of the bi-yearly Sixteen Hands Artist Tour, my Asheville Potter Son Josh Copus came home to Floyd this weekend to show his work in the house where he grew up.
My kitchen and living room were transformed into a galleries, complete with track lights and a steady flow of pottery lovers and neighbors I didn’t know I had.
Eric Knoche’s ceramic sculpture was also on display. Eric was Josh’s Guest Artist and is a fellow member of Clayspace, the potter’s co-op that Josh founded in Asheville.
The abundance of pots and people flowed over onto the porch.
And into the yard.
Sometimes parking overflowed too.
Day two wound down with burgers on the grille, some micro-brews, an impromptu guitar serenade, and a down home soccer game.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the tour a success. The next16 Hands Artist Studio Tour is the fourth weekend in November. Read more about Josh’s wood fired wild clay pottery HERE. Video of Josh talking to a tour-goer about woodfiring is HERE. Video of Eric explaining about Asheville’s River Arts Studio Tours HERE.
