Letting Go
Everything you see has its roots in the unseen world. The forms may change but the essence remains the same. Every wondrous sight will vanish. Every sweet word will fade. But do not be disheartened. The source they come from is eternal. ~ Rumi
It’s the practice of accepting impermanence that allows me to drop everything and fly to Massachusetts to be with my mother. I am not indispensible. Life in Floyd goes on. The women from the Primland Spa going to the Native American sweat lodge this week will be fine without me accompanying them. Someone else will write the story about Roanoke’s Roots Café moving to a new location. Joe will babysit Bryce on my regular Thursday. He’ll weed the garden and mulch and fertilize the corn. The man with disabilities I sometime spend time probably won’t even notice I’m gone.
If we die from this world (which we do) then we should be able to stop all our activities for a couple of weeks or more to yield to the call and needs or our loved ones.

This is the way we have to be. We cannot think any of it is permanent or we will be devastated.
