A Picture Perfect Pumpkin Picking Day
If you ever go to Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival in Christiansburg make sure you bring a two year old. According to my grandson Bryce, the farm is a kid’s play paradise where you can run through mazes, play king of the hay mountain, pet a baby goat, or play grocery store with the pumpkins.
On this day, the cloud filled blue sky provided a masterpiece backdrop for taking a hay ride to the pumpkin patch and picking one off the vine.
Not only is the pumpkin farm a kid’s play paradise, it’s fun for people of all ages, whether they’re sitting on a rocking chair next to an overstuffed scarecrow on the store porch, watching the views from the top of a hay bale, or running around taking pictures of the 2 year-olds having the time of their lives.
It’s a photographer’s non-stop photo-op, with white, pink, green, and orange pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, stacked up, lined up, in tractor tires and wheelbarrows, some with stripes, and other with warts and all (or what I like to call garden barnacles).
Although the pumpkin is the center of attraction on festival weekends, for some of us it only played a good second to Bryce. According to his mom, dad, sister, aunts, cousins, grandparents, and uncle, Bryce and his enthusiasm were the highlights of the pumpkin festival day.
It’s a good thing too because it was likely the last family outing before Bryce will be sharing cute baby billing with his new little brother Liam, due to be born in a about a week’s time. Stay tuned!
Post note: Take a hayride with Colleen, Joe, and Bryce HERE.

You know, it always amazes me at how fast and sudden the fall changes seem to come. There is just a different coloring in the leaves and the pumpkins ripen and apples … well, it was JUST summer!!!
Oh, those warty pumpkins make really great pies!

No pumpkin, no star, no tree, no poem, NOTHING competes with the joy of a grandchild. So happy to see you enjoying your lovely boy! What a fortunate child he is.
