Bon Appetit and Buon Compleanno Kyla!
A couple of friends who wandered into Mickey G’s balloon decorated restaurant for lunch on Wednesday and did not know about the party were bewildered. I joked that they were the restaurant’s 1000th customers and the party was for them.
In reality, it was my friend Mara’s daughter Kyla’s 13th birthday. She got off the school bus to meet up with her mom who works at Mickey G’s and was surprised.
I knew you wanted to see that cake up close. So did I, and there were a few in the room, readers of my blog, who knew I would want to take a close up picture of the cake’s 13 for a future 13 Thursday post. Mickey G’s is Italian and there were pizza pies, but the theme of the party was Paris because Kyla is into all things Paris right now, hence the gay Paree ooh la la cake.
I don’t think I had ever eaten purple cake with a feather on top before. It was good! Here is Emily (center) the cake baker and her cohorts. Watch a video HERE and HERE.

And the black dots… I think you should have taken a few pictures of those who ate the cake… purple and black tongues are very unique!
Reminds me of a dinner where we had a colorful bakery cake with buttercream icing in red and blue and a piece was sitting on the table by my mom. She is diabetic and not supposed to have this so, of course she finds it irresistible. I asked her if she had left the cake alone when I got to the table and she said, “Yes, I did not eat any at all.” When she spoke I saw the red and blue icing stain on her lips and tongue….. BUSTED!

I love you, Colleen. SOO glad you could be there! What an amazing birthday she had. Thank you for once again documenting our lives in such a wonderful way! Now, everyone send me some good advice on parenting teenagers–since I will have one to parent for the next seven years. 🙂

She is certainly a lucky girl to have such a great party.
I think Mara will do fine with the next 7 years of parenting. Setting limits and what is expected are a must and have to be kept to work, that is my only advice. xo
PS Mara….they will dislike you and even hate you during this period, but they do return and then thank you!!
