The 13 Thursday Unveiling
1. My neighborhood is an October vacation destination and my porch is like the deck of a ship sailing through a sea of fall foliage.
2. THIS video chokes me up.
3. THIS one makes me smile.
4. You can see from the photo of my 2 year old grandson Bryce (left) playing a leaf at Kari Kovick’s kid’s music program that he thinks outside the box. THIS one shows his budding alpha male.
5. Hot enough but not too hot to lay out in the sun, I like to toast to a golden brown in Indian summer October just like the leaves around me.
6. I’m very proud of the arts in Floyd County. An excellent video on Floyd’s Jacksonville Center for the Arts is HERE.
7. Best virtual pumpkin carving HERE.
8. The word EAT is in TREAT
9. I love THIS list of lesser known editing and proofreading marks that my poet friend Mara just sent me.
10. Sometimes I look at people’s names by how many points they would score in Scrabble.
11. Today I found myself wondering how the candy corn can stay in business with it only being bought and eaten one month of the year.
12. The Fall of Freddie the Leaf (read it HERE) is a short story about life and death by Dr. Leo Buscaglia (aka Dr. Love), an author, motivational speaker and professor at the University of Southern California who taught a class title Love 1A.
13. How many pumpkins can you count on my front page (scroll down; there’s more)?

We’ve had a lovely Indian Summer here, but now the leaves are past their peak and most of the trees already bare. Regarding number 12…one of my favorite short stories is O. Henry’s “The Last Leaf.”

I couldn’t finish watching the video in #2!!
It is a crying shame, that this is going on.
I’ll play with #7 after work!! And I love Leo Buscaglia!!! I remember reading his books in the 80’s. He was always on channel 2. Ma and Dad loved him too!

Omg #2 Video has me in tears. Today my daughter and her friend are having the first meeting of a group they started at school about bullying in highschool. I am so proud of her.
Happy T13!

I also love that ‘abstract’ of your grandchild. That burnt orange color is wonderful.

I like #10…WENDY would be a nice-scoring word, especially if you managed to get a triple word score!
My friend Omawarisan at “Blurt” did a hilarious post on candy corn a while ago: http://bit.ly/bCqGZ0

I wonder about certain kinds of candy every season – like those Cadbury Eggs and peeps and things like that. Nobody eats that stuff all year long.

It was nice to meet you too, Dona! Considering what we talked about at our accidental lunch, you might be interested in my “Wellness Management” sidebar category link, as well as the one on Floyd Press and Where I Live.

Before I continue with the rest of your T13—That Joel Burns Video made me sob! So very powerful in it’s raw truth. What a brave wonderful man he is and how important the things he said are to so very many people—like, EVERYONE!!!…
It shocking to think that people are so threatened by someone being gay…WHY??? It Makes NO SENSE yo Me, At All….!
Thank you for this link, dear Colleen….

Well…this is one of the richest Thursday 13 Ever!! So much to take in, my dear. The great FUN was carving the pumpkin so many varied ways…How do you find these delightful things Colleen?
You asked about The Garden. It is there for anyone to see and/or walk through—Though the Hospice closed because the need was not there anymore—So the powers that be thought—-Anyway….the building is empy now and I have no idea who sees this garden, or if in fact, anybody ever does. Both times I was there in September….I saw no one. No signs of life at all, except in the plants growing in this glorious garden
