13: Are You Talking to Me
1. You know that guy in the movie American Beauty who filmed the plastic bag blowing in the wind? I think he got the idea from me. See HERE.
2. I wish people were as upset by the corruption of our political voting system as they were about Bristol Palin winning undeserved votes on Dancing with the Stars last week.
3. Walking the beach with my camera around my shoulder and slung at my hip, I feel like a cowgirl with a gun in a holster ready to shoot.
4. “Are you talking to me?” was named for THIS.
5. HOT stuff: the documentation of my Asheville Potter Son’s recent kiln firing by photographer Frank Bott is HERE.
6. The article I wrote for Clay Times on Floyd’s 16 Hands studio potters Mentoring a New Generation of Potters, including my son, is HERE.
7. THIS is what I want to be when I grow up.
8. Intensive care-giving (for my mom who is recovering from a stroke) can cause the days to blur together. I looked at the clock yesterday and saw it was 8:00 but for a split second didn’t know whether it was a.m. or p.m. My mother has two identical phones here which has confused me more than once too.
9. Email message to my husband Joe the other night: I am Whistler’s Mother, sitting at the window typing. There are binoculars on the window sill and no moon.
10. Looking at the waning full moon last night: Butterball moon …. Dark or white … simmered and served … slice by slice.
11. I’m already thinking about my flight home to Virginia. If the underwires in my bra set of the Logan Airport metal detector, I’m in trouble.
12. It’s not Thanksgiving until I hear THIS song.
13. I hope someone made pie!
Note: More 13 Thursday participants are HERE.

I hate to tell you, but #11 may well be a problem. You may want to reconsider your attire.

When do you go home? And sorry, no pie here. We are waiting for the girl to get home on Dec. 14th to use all the fairytale pumpkin for pie!
That kiln shot… wow, that is a hot, hot fire!

Number 10! Love it! Good luck getting through the airport with that underwire. Now that I think of it, I”ve never set one off with my underwire. That would be my luck, though! LOL Happy Thanksgiving.

The truly sad thing about that blowing trash that may eventually go to the black whole of trash in the Atlantic is that it appears to have the emblem of an American flag on it. The DWTS show is just a popularity contest, not a dancing contest, and I actually felt so sorry for her because she is NOT her mom and I think she really just wanted to go back to her life. (I only watched one episode.) That ability to draw the perfect oval or circle is amazing…not even thinking about pulling it all together! I was where you are with my mother a number of years ago. I stayed for 6 weeks until I had to return to work… It was lonely and peaceful.

Plastic is the bane of our existence. I think Bristol Palin is sweet and she has improved a lot but Brandi was good enough to win the whole thing, although I think Jenneifer Gray rightly won it. You only need to watch occasionaly to catch on. The milk it for all it’s worth.
I’m only here for 2 1/2 weeks doing some intensived care, giving my sisters a break, and working to get full time care in place so she can stay home. Peaceful and lonley is a good way to describe it. Thankfully I can occasionaly walk the beach or ride the bike that my brother got for me.

Hull has a kind of bleak looking beach this time of year….Much to see and listen to, too, in this T13…As Always my dear….A rich rich experience.
Hope you have a safe trip home…..And I dearly pray your Mom is able to stay at home during her recovery. Is the prognosis good, in terms of her recovery? I dearly hope so, my friend.

The stroke was not a major one, so that is good. The recovery has been slow. She will need a constant caregiver at this time and we are getting some in place.
