13 Reasons to Smile
2. Not only do we look better when we smile, we feel better too. Research has shown that smiling relieves stress and triggers hormones in the brain that promote feelings of well-being.
3. Last Thursday after pointing out that a road near me is named Shooting Creek in reference to moonshine days, I was asked if we had moonshiners today. I answered, “I hear tell there are some still.”
4. Last week a total of six stories I had written came out the same day in 3 different publications. “We could wallpaper a room with them!” I told Joe.
5. Your body doesn’t care if your smile is real or not. Either way, it releases good hormones that make you happy. Smiling actually makes you feel like smiling!
6. I used to love Reese’s peanut butter cups but I gave them up for Lindt.
7. In response to my post titled “I Love View,” my blogging friend Pearl commented, “Nice title, you punny lady.”
8. Liam Pat… wore his hat … to the grocery store and laundry mat … The only time he took it off … was when he went to the barber shop! ~ First stanza of a nursery rhyme I’ve been writing for my new grandson Liam.
9. I named THESE two noisy geese at Mabry Mill Yakkity Yak and Quack.
10. I have an original painting hanging on my wall by an artist from Texas signed S Miles.
11. A smile: “It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. ~ Dale Carnegie, from his book How to Win Friends and Influence People,
12. A man named Harvey Ball designed the first Smiley face, while working at State Mutual Life Assurance Company as a freelance artist in 1963. It was popularized in the early 1970s by two brothers, Bernard and Murray Spain, who used it on buttons, bumper stickers, and mugs. In 2008 Walmart lost a legal battle to trademark the smiley face graphic, which it uses in its “roll back the prices” sales campaigns.
13. How to make great French fries: THIS is the first step.
