Tea with Friends
~ The following was published in The Floyd Press newspaper on December 9, 2010.
On December 4th from 2 – 4 p.m. Sam and Dolly Moore hosted the 4th annual Friends of the Library Holiday Tea fundraiser at their home “Glenanna,” which is listed on both the State and National register of Historic Places.
Friends of the Library president Kit Haggard reported that the tea fundraiser was a sell-out event, although some ticket holders stayed home because of the snowy weather. Haggard is pictured to the right of home owner Dolly Moore.
A new publication, titled Tea with Friends, was debuted at the holiday fundraiser. The cookbook was a project of several Friends of the Library members. It includes “tried and true” recipes that members have made and served at fundraising teas, Haggard said. The book also includes information on traditions of afternoon teas, as well as the courses that are served at them. Copies of the book, which features a cover by local artist Gretchen St. Lawrence, are available at the Jessie Peterman Library, where orders for the $20 print-on-demand publication can be made.

What a lovely idea for a fundraiser.
Their house is absolutely beautiful too, especially with all that snow!

Yes, the snow really sets off the home and the Christmas feel. It reminds me of the Antebellum homes down in Mississippi, although more beautiful because snow there is so rare.

Do you know what kind of tea they were serving?

I arrived at the end (just up the mountain from the airport) and it was put away. I hope to actually go for the even next year.
The tea in the photo above is the last of the Dunbar Tea Shop tea! Delicious!
