13: Red and Ready
1. Years ago a friend gave me a roll of red duct tape because my last name is Redman.
2. An eccentric guy once presented me with a box full of things that were red: dishes and books with the word “red” in the title.
3. I’m the kind of person who was sad when Willie Nelson cut off his braid, but I can’t wait for Donald Trump to cut his hair.
4. Bryce and Liam’s big sister Kaylee is very creative. She made the shirt pictured in the photo below out of duct tape!
5. More plastic than polyester prom fashions HERE.
6. Duct tape was originally used by the military to keep moisture out of the ammunition cases and was called “duck tape” because it was waterproof and was made from cotton duck. After WWII the army green tape was changed to silver and people started referring to it as duct tape because it was then used to connect heating and air conditioning duct work together. Different grades and colors followed and today duct tape is not only one of the most versatile tools in the household toolbox, it’s an art medium.
7. “Donald, your hairdo is fired!” ~ Madeleine Marr, Miami Herald
8. Driving to Christiansburg yesterday to have lunch with a friend, I felt sad for all the old abandoned barns I saw that I wouldn’t be taking pictures of because of electric fences.
9. Now that our dog Jazzy is an old dog I think we’ll start calling her Jazz.
10. I started meditating using Transcendental Mediation in the late 70’s. At my first class my TM teacher noticed that I was wearing a red blouse, wrote with a red pen and was driving a red car. He thought I had planned the whole red thing, but I hadn’t.
11. Bless me father, my iPhone says it’s been one month for since my last confession. Now there’s an app for Catholics to keep track of their sins. God help us.
12. Hidden within my last name “Redman” are the words mend, mad, amend, dream, made, dare, read, name, dear, near, earn and amen.
13. I still have that red tape. Can you read the words on my pen?

And “mare” don’t forget that one! I suppose you could also find “nerd” and “dame” as well. What was that game.. oh, yes… Boggle. One of my favorite!

I often long to stop to snap roadside pics of such sites as abandoned barns or old cemeteries, but that’s not always possible when you’re the passenger. The downside of not having a car…

amen to the willie and donald hair comments. i would love to be around when trump gets caught in the wind. as sprayed as it must be, surely it moves in a wind storm or when he tries to board the helicopter. he is ridiculous if he thinks none of us believe it is comb-over (which he denies!).
as always your creative mind is working overtime on thurs posts! great fun, colleen. and yes, i can read the print on the pen.

Great post, and I love the pen. I think it would be interesting to have a color in your name. I have “fire” in mine but have never done anything with it. Might have to change that; thanks for the thought!

In #3 Willie Nelson looks like he has woman’s haircut and I have no idea what Donald Trump’s hair is doing??!!
I really like the prom gowns in #5 especially the “sun one”. I think it is very creative and would have loved doing that in my time! Kayla’s creation is cute too!
#11 is totally ridiculous and not so spiritual at all???? And I sure can read the pen on #13…..I have a couple of those pens myself. xoxo

Duct tape! I still have the bumper sticker:
If you can’t fix it, duct it!
And if you can duct it, f%&*k it, it’s broke!
Color duct tape is great for taping DIY adult sized hula hoops. Just to throw another use out there. *grin*
Happy TT,

You’ve got some construction in your family?
One’s soul colors just pop out. Cobalt blues for me. They leap onto my back. Not much I can do with anagrams in my name but ‘ripe pie’ will do.

Duct tape & Vice grips: Universal repair kit (& apparently fashion designer’s pallette).
Enjoyed the list, Red.

When I bought a red pick up truck, suddenly everything became red. I named her Lady in Red and the name is still on her rear window. Red earrings, blouses, shoes, coats, yes, red. Love red! But I never had red duct tape–yet.
Thanks for sharing.

You made me laugh..especially the ‘Catholic iphone app’. Wonderful list..and I – too – love red!!!

What a coincidence…my oldest daughter (age 25) is also a Kaylee, and had a brief interest in making things from duct tape five or six years ago!
Fun post, Colleen!

As always, my dear, a wonderful T13!

The Oprah Show is what prompted my comment. I thought he looked like a werewolf.
