13 Thursday Paint by Numbers
1. My son Josh calls this photo of him in Australia “Swimming in Succulents.” I call it “Andrew Wyeth Painting on Acid.
2. I need professional help and by that I mean a hairstylist.
3. Every time I drive home from town and go up the dirt hill on Woods Gap Road, I think of my brother Danny, a city dweller, who, when visiting me once, slowed down to a grandma pace at that very spot and complained that the road was too narrow and that it was too dark without streetlights.
4. Whenever I eat asparagus from our garden (which I’m doing now) I think of my sister Sherry who was excited to be visiting me once years ago in April when the asparagus was up.
5. I think of my brother Jimmy when I hear the Kinks and whenever I iron because when we were growing up he used to pay me to iron his clothes but always complained that I didn’t do it well enough.
6. I think stink bugs smell like cilantro.
7. We’ve been infested with stink bugs in Southwest Virginia. At the Land’s Sake farmer’s panel (an earth day event in Floyd), our agricultural extension agent said that he had gotten hundreds of calls about stink bugs and that they have created a million and a half dollars worth of damage to apple crops.
8. Donald Trump Dogged by Rumors His Hair is Not from U.S. Read the report HERE.
9. Nana to Bryce: Do you like bugs? Bryce: No. I like grasshoppers.
10. Our names are our assignments. I just read an article about how Bernie Madoff made off.
11. THIS Jackson Pollock painting site is worth re-posting and I’m posting it now for my step-granddaughter Kaylee.
12. Key Lesson: Any blow to your vanity, received consciously, is a healing touch to your soul. ~ Guy Finley
13. I love THIS guy.
Bonus art created by Josh in Australia HERE. More Thirteen Thursdays HERE.

Very rich T13, my dear….So full of fun things and I loved going to the Jackson Pollack site, once again….LOVED the “Balders” deal on Trump, too….very funny!

That Jackson Pollack site is possibly the most fun thing I’ve seen all week.
I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a stink bug….I’m pretty sure I’m okay with that. =)

Ugh! Stink bugs. You can keep those and the aspargus. I’d rather have broccoli, zucchini and green beans. Alas, it will be a while before anything is growing here. Still too cold and wet.

I don’t find the stink bug smell offensive, just different. I do find it offensive that they are crawling in my house! They can leave any time. Great TT, as always!

It was fun going back to that special birthday present you gave me in 2005.
I love #13 too! and may use some of the quotes. xo
PS I dislike stink bugs too and I am glad they are not here in Massachusetts.

I stopped at a light post yesterday to balance on for a stretch and t was covered in stinkbugs. Totally weird!
April 28th, 2011 10:26 am
So… I guess the question that arises is do you like the taste of cilantro? Tex-Mex anyone?
April 28th, 2011 10:58 am
Like CountryDew I don’t think stink bugs stink that bad because I think they smell like cilantro and I like cilantro. But I don’t want to eat a stink bug!

I need a hairstylist too… actually, I have one and she did a good job… it’s just that with the extraordinary humidity that is usually confined to the deep south.. one step outside and I am the girl with a curl right in the middle of her forehead… even if it was blown dry straight and even just a second before. I don’t remember having this much curl in my hair when I was younger…. what happened?!?!?!

Love how each little thing evokes connections and memories. And – I can so relate to needing professional help…or – a stylist!!!

Hi, I’m over from Wander Wonder Discover. I so enjoyed reading this list. and loved the end quote.
i wish our stink bugs smelt like cilantro!

Apparently, my puppy also thinks stink bugs smell like cilantro. After having his grand fun with them, he however, does not generally have an aroma that I would describe as cilantroesque. Instead, the aroma would be better described as his very own name assignment. His name is Duncan.
