Heaven on Earth Under Blue Skies
There aren’t many reasons why I’d be sitting by myself on the wall along the courthouse at 8:30 in the morning. But that’s what I was doing yesterday, the morning of the predicted Rapture when more than 200 million people were supposed to be swept up to heaven. I wasn’t waiting for the end of the world, but for a group of about 100 cyclists, who were about to ride a 63 mile countryside loop and enjoy the heaven on earth views of the Blue Ridge Parkway to benefit our county rescue squad.
Look for more photos and narrative of the 4th annual Tour de Floyd in The Floyd Press this week and here at Loose Leaf Notes.

It was such a nice day for the ride too… not too hot, not too cold, no rain!

That’s Buffalo Mountain peeking up in the distance. It’s the highest point of Floyd County and makes a great hike. Here it is closer and a view from the top http://looseleafnotes.com/wp/2010/05/up-on-the-buffalo/

Wow…a metric century this early in the season! I’m impressed for a whole lot of reasons, not the least of which is the reason for the ride in the first place. You’re always looking out for others first.

I was enrapatured by the day itself, and I am glad it stayed with me–and we, it!
