13: Show Me the Money
1. I just realized that ROMNEY’s last name has the word MONEY right in it.
2. Is THIS a typo or a photoshop prank?
3. Floyd County voted for Ron Paul in the Republic primary but only Paul and Romney were on the ballot. Voter turnout was so low that I couldn’t get a voting shot for the paper, so I took a photo of the 5 women election officers at the courthouse district site who said they gave the people who voted a standing ovation when they came in to vote.
4. Question seen on Facebook: If steroids are illegal for professional athletes should photoshop be illegal for models?
5. My hero HERE.
6. As long as “The Dow” is “the way” of our culture instead of “The Tao” we’ll be lost.
7. Amazon.com is the new Sears catalog.
8. Past Virginia poet laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner, Claudia Emerson (who I met and wrote about HERE), has a new book of poems out. One poem in the collection, called Half-Life: Pittsylvania County, Va, is about the farmland proposed to be mined for uranium in Pittsylvania County, where Emerson grew up.
9. I think it’s a mistake and would severely compromise the region’s promising agricultural and economic future and threaten its public health. ~ Claudia Emerson on uranium mining in Virginia.
10. There’s no money in poetry, but then there’s no poetry in money, either. ~Robert Graves
11. Headline in the Roanoke Times about the Republican primaries: “Romney and Santorum fare well,” which I know means they did pretty well, but I read as “goodbye.”
12. Today’s theme song HERE.
13. And THIS is the song Joe says made him fall in love with me. I sang it to him one night when he was falling asleep.
… And that’s my two cents worth.

Love numbers six and twelve! As for number 8/9… they’ve been trying to ram through changes to environmental laws here in order to make it “easier” for an out-of-state fracking mine that wants to ruin the pristine Northwoods. I was glad to see it did not pass last week.

I love your line about Amazon…Ain’t it the truth!!! A Great Observation, Colleen….As always, a fascinating T13….LOVE the Robert Graves quote!
And I hadn’t thought about the fact that
money is in Romney’s name! Something Else, as we used to say.

5 – well, isn’t he busy, busy, busy with that endless energy!? where was he performing his spiderman impersonation? ahhh, to find that sort of simple pleasure again.
6 – you got it!
7 – hahaha…..so true!
10 – what is the common denominator among those of us who like poetry? many of my friends who are avid readers have no interest in poetry whatsoever, yet i have loved it since age 8. my niece has, too. yet, my sister and her older daughter have probably never read any poetry that was not mandated somewhere in their academic life.
11 – i wish that could be said of the whole party! i say someone start a new one altogether! one that is not filled with insanity and is capable of working in a bipartisan manner for the good of the country!

#10 I think the problem is looking at poetry as one whole thing rather than finding what you like. I was one who didn’t like poetry either and I still don’t like a lot of it but when I find some I like I actually LOVE it.

R-Money … even if that’s a Photoshopped picture, it’s hilarious.
Thanks for dropping by RWT last week!
