We were on our way to visit a friend who was in her last days of life when I spotted this abandoned house and Joe pulled over. It all felt poignant and eerie, like a convergence of past and present and a window into the mystery.

As i noted over at dVerse, up here in Albany, they throw an annual Tulip Festival I honor of our Dutch founders.
But those daffodils beat the tulips to the spring sunshine every time.
Loved the feeling and imagery of your piece and these terrific photos, Colleen!

revelry indeed. a perfect title. i like the way the title acts like a first line or even like a last line or even yet how it works with the third line–a revelry, a trumpet flourish in yellow.

Abandoned houses whisper of stories untold. Lovely!

Love the photos! I was wondering if the house was in Floyd County, but I think you answered that question in your comment, above. As your other posters have noted, it is often the stories, even if unknown, that intrigue those of us who are attracted to old houses — especially abandoned houses. That… and the vibrations of former residents that one feels in these poignant landmarks of lives lived with both joy and sorrow.

have the daffodils yelled yet?? 🙂 I hope so!
Amazing pix. I wonder who lived there last? And who built it?
That window shot reminds me of something my hubby would recreate in one of his H.O. models.
