13: The Weekly Spin
1. I regret that I didn’t take a picture of me in my purple pants and black patent shoes at Easter Brunch on Sunday. I did get a picture of my friend Rowan on his scooter.
2. Did you know that “Dammit I’m Mad” is spelled backwards is “Dammit I’m Mad.”
3. Facebook comment to my status update I can’t help wondering if I had been jogging instead of blogging these last 7 years how fit I might be now: “Or clogging.”
4. Someone else suggested I could do both blogging and jogging and re-name my blog the blogging jogger. Then I found THIS.
5. I sat in on a 7th grade school class that Joe taught on brain-based strategies for focusing attention and regulating emotions. The students responded well and one kid liked the class so much that he asked where he could buy one of THESE.
6. I’m finally breaking down and getting implants.
7. And by that I mean (2) teeth.
8. UPS and USB have been on my to-do list for weeks. Today I finally did both and also got a bone spur that felt like a razor blade plucked out of my mouth by my periodontist, got a passport picture taken, bought a baby booster seat and a pot of phlox, and had a buffalo burger for lunch.
9. I also contracted poison ivy on top of the 7-year itch I’ve been scratching, wondering about the future of blogging and my own 7-year old blog.
10. Yesterday I posted an entry titled “Sure Shot” with a photo of me looking like a gunslinger with a pocket camera at each hip. Only after I posted it did I realize that the picture revealed the word “canon” on both cameras, adding to my showdown theme.
11. Stare at the picture above carefully and you will see the man turn his face. If it doesn’t turn go HERE for an explanation.
12. I have a poem called “The Audit” that honors National Poetry Month and Tax Month at the same time. It begins: In April I calculate poetry / the way others do their taxes / as though the world was overdue for a good accounting … You can read the rest of the poem HERE.
13. I’ve always been a fan of Annie Oakley.

I hope you’re feeling better after the implants and poison ivy and stuff. Wondering about your thoughts on blogging – is it out of style? Old fashioned? Going the way of the dodo? Or are you just tired of it after all this time?
April 13th, 2012 12:44 pm
On the whole, not tired of blogging. I just wonder sometimes, as with everything, “what’s it all about, Alfie?” Sometimes you just wonder if you’re talking to yourself. Maybe that’s okay too.

Colleen- Ha! I’m just laughing at your last response: “Sometimes you just wonder if you’re talking to yourself. Maybe that’s okay too.” That’s part of the reason I started blogging! I talk to myself too much. Of course, it was more about the writing, and creating a space to which I’d be accountable (there we go w/the accounting again) to write. All in all, it’s been a wonderful experience. And the icing is meeting other bloggers who are thrusting their beautiful art and prose into the ether–a world I hadn’t know existed until 2 years ago!
By the way, my sis fretted over implants for a long while (fear!). When she finally had it done she said it was like a walk in the park. Er, well, maybe on a rainy day. Seriously–according to her, it wasn’t half as bad (or painful) as she thought it would be. Good luck!

Blogging has served me well. It’s only after 7 years that I am wondering about a blog lifespan. Here are some of my quotes on blogging which show its relevance for me. http://looseleafnotes.com/wp/2009/03/%E2%80%9Cyou-can-quote-me%E2%80%9D/
And here is a local public radio essay I read on the air about blogging when it was still new: http://looseleafnotes.com/wp/2006/11/born-to-blog/
Hearing from you, Jayne, is very validating, a real live commenting blogger!

neat, the tshirts already exist.
Poison ivy goes systemic like chicken pox, hiding to flare on stress, or can. Hubby can get the blisters back mid-winter if stress spikes.
