Breaking Up Has Never Been This Much Fun
It was the Break-up Bash at the Sun Hall for the ALLiENS, the celebrated World Groove band based out of Floyd. They never said why they were breaking up. I tried not to think about that.
I was too busy dancing and taking pictures and video clips for one of the band member’s webpage in trade for some of his CSA organic veggies (only in Floyd).
The band is made up of two brothers, a cousin and others. The newest and youngest member, the son of the drummer, made what I think was his debut appearance on the drums. His grandmother, Winter Sun Clothing owner, was proudly snapping pictures of him throughout the first set.
The light show was spectacular and the band was rockin’ their reggae, funk, Spanish hip hop and island sound. Twenty-five percent of show ticket sales went to benefit the Blue Mountain School. I’m sad that the band is breaking up. Their sound will be greatly missed by music lovers and dancers, local and beyond.
