13: On Your Mark
1. In October leaves fall like rain and every now and then black walnuts drop like hailstones.
2. I like to spell Halloween like this: Halloweeeeeee n.
3. Really? A cupcake ATM machine? HERE.
4. Posted on Facebook by my friend Scott during the height of Hurricane Sandy’s winds: If the answer is blowing in the wind tonight, I’d really like to know what the bloody question was!
5. Posted by me on Facebook yesterday: Regular potatoes are obsolete. I just had a yellow sweet potato from Water Bear Farm for lunch.
6. Never mind the question ‘why did the chicken cross the road?’ what I want to know is ‘why does it lose its feathers with winter coming on?’
7. A six minute video that explains the U.S. economy better than either presidential candidate HERE.
8. I was recently tagged in a punctuation photo on Facebook called the Comma Sutra.
9. It’s sweet and I understand why THIS little girl is crying over ‘Bronco Bamma’ and Mitt Romney, but in reality it’s sad that the election climate is disturbing enough to make little children afraid.
10. Now that FEMA is desperately needed by cities hit the hardest by Hurricane Sandy, Republicans have to deny that they repeatedly suggested cutting FEMA. To add insult to injury, they have talked about promoting privatized disaster relief businesses, which means big bucks for companies like Halliburton and big bills for everyone else.
11. Kind of eerie: Bruce Springsteen singing to Sandy about the New Jersey coast in 1975 HERE.
12. I watch the sky for my late brother Jimmy, listen to good music for my late brother Danny and eat cashews for my dad, who passed away in 2005.
13. LL Bean is the Norman Rockwell of catalogs.

The harshness of the political spin is enough to make anyone cry. Where is civility?
Loved the video on the economy – everyone should watch that.

I think for #9, this little girl is pretty much used to getting her way to listen/see to what she wants when she wants to on the radio or TV and the ads that interrupt this or the speeches that over broadcast that are not something she is happy about. It might say more about how we cater to our little children rather than tell them how important this election is even at that young age.

A cupcake ATM? Sounds handy when you really need a chocolate fix, but I’d bet that’s one expensive cupcake.

I was trying to watch some nursery rhyme stories and songs on youtube with Bryce and Liam and bad political ads came on first and they were scary. The tone was negative and I was disgusted that they had them on children’s videos and don’t think kids should bed exposed to them, worse than the boogie man!
