A Seaside Serenade: Aka The Obama Diaries
We couldn’t believe our ears. An elderly stranger stopped my sister Trish and me at the Nantasket Beach seawall and told us he had a song he wanted to sing. We agreed to hear it, but before he took us by surprise with his “Oh-bama, Oh-bama, how you can love,” refrain, to tune of ‘Oh, Dolly,’ he wanted to know if my sister was married.
“Why do you want to know that?” she asked. “Because if Obama wins the election I’ll marry you,” he answered. We cracked up at such an unlikely proposal, especially because I had just finished telling Trish over breakfast, “the perfect man for you is right around the corner.”
The singing Obama supporter also had a song about Romney that began with “Mitt the Sh*t. We asked if we could video tape him singing it, but he wanted no part of youtube fame, although he did allow us to take the pictures above.
“I’ll meet you back here on Wednesday if President Obama wins,” he said as we walked away still laughing. “Okay, I’ll be the bridesmaid!” I shouted back.
Post note: HERE is another Oh-bama song, performed by Rob Neukirch at the Obama Rally in Floyd last week.

The worst part that I didn’t mention is that he asked me if I was Trish’s mother!

This election may have created strange bedfellows…(Huckabee/Trump), (Romney/Ginrich) and the most recent (Obama/Christie) but your recent encounter is the strangest.
