13: The Downhill Countdown
1. I call the above photo “Drive Safely.” When I posted it on Facebook, comment titles included “A Divided Slideway,” “A Slippery Slope That Takes the Mind on a Ride” and “Taking the Coast-al Route.”
2. My Grandson Bryce on Monday: “I just patted Snoop because sometimes dogs need to be love-did.”
3. Only in Floyd: CHIPS star Erik Estrada came to Floyd this week to speak at the Floyd Moose Lodge about internet safety. On the other side of town we had a visit from a prominent Buddhist Lama, the subject of THIS documentary.
4. According to a 1999 Gallop Poll, Martin Luther King Jr. is the second most admired person in the 20th century, coming in second to Mother Theresa. There are over 900 streets named after Martin Luther King, Jr. around the world. Forty U.S. states have at least one MLK Jr. named road of their own.
5. On Tuesday it was 75 degrees colder in Maine than it was last week, which reminded me of the cup of water I kept on my bedroom dresser in the house I grew up in that used to freeze in winter if the door was closed.
6. More and more, politics remind me of fake wrestling with dramatic predetermined antics that divide sides that are either booing or cheering.
7. Today my yawn sounded like Robert Plant singing the Immigrant Song.
8. Yesterday I found myself asking, ‘what would Tom do?’
9. THIS $55,000 handbag, designed by the Olsen twins with pharmaceutical pills all over it is the epitome of a shamefully warped culture.
10. Has Climate Change finally come out of the closet? “The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult. But America cannot resist this transition. We must lead it.” NPR reported that this comment by Obama at his inaugural speech got one of the biggest cheers of the day.
11. You’ve heard of Star Wars? THIS is Snow Wars.
12. An antidote to cold winter weather is HERE.
13. “In the morning, before I remember who I am, that’s who I am.” ~ My Dharmacratic friend Will

Your yawn has me giggling at the thought of it. Heh. 😉
And I sure do hope people will start taking climate change seriously – we’re digging our own graves here, in the end.
Happy TT to you, in the meantime!

I can’t believe that purse! Oh my word. It was definitely a great advertising decision. I’m sure it will be all over the ‘fashion tabloids’
As always you’ve created a thought provoking post. Happy T13!

I’m definitely with you on #6; current politics being more show (and bad show, at that) than anything else, with the players doing their best to fill the cock-eyed, posturing role they’ve cast for themselves instead of attempting to do anything for the common good. Pathetic. And infuriating.
As alway, enjoyed your list, CR. I’m not playing this week; Officially still mourning.

After this past year of record extremes in temperature, one can only hope people start taking climate change and the environment more seriously. Loved the flower video!

Erik Estrada – WOW. I haven’t seen or heard that name in a long, long time. I used to have such a huge crush on him. LOL. Happy Thursday.

I loved the “love-did” from Bryce. It reminded me of when Beth was little. I said something to her about tulips. She pointed to her mouth and said “two lips.”
I also enjoyed the memory of #5, sorta, of the water freezing on our dresser. It sure did get cold up there.
I have only one word for that bag by the Olsen twins; UGH.

Your view on politics is spot on!

We had the water on our dresser for setting our hair with curlers, pre-electric curlers!

Climate change is real. Unfortunately the deniers want to take the rest of us with them.
Great TT!

That pocket book is something else and you worded it right!! “The Epitome of Shameful Warped Culture”

I don’t understand paying $55 thousand for any purse made of anything! OY! And with drugs all over it?? Two OY’s! Indeed, warped, beyond belief. $39 thousand is outrageous, too…And they sold out??
THREE OY’s!!!!! We live in very strange times with some very sick values! There are so very many things of true value one could do with $39 thou and even more things of value with $55 thousand….OY OY OY OY!
