The 13 Thursday Interface
1. Strange how we live in a world where convenience means that friends leave messages on two phones (home and cell) and leave comments on two online forums (Facebook and this blog).
2. Sometimes I post the same thing on the blog and on Facebook and then watch the race to see which gets more comments.
3. I now know what it’s like to go viral, at least in my little small town world. After posting THIS about the sudden death of Floyd friend Tom Ryan, who I describe as “Floyd’s version of Will Rogers meets Robin Williams, who rarely bites his tongue and is more often known for getting it stuck in his own cheek,” the post got more than twice the hits of my past most viewed entry, with well over 300 coming from Facebook, where I posted a link.
4. Tom, in a 2011 interview for the Collegiate Times, said: “This is all satire. We make fun of ourselves as much as we make fun of people like you.” Why do you think it’s important to make fun of people? “Because you’d better have a sense of humor if you’re gonna live in this century and millennium. We’re approaching the end times. In fact, we have a poster you might be interested in purchasing. It says “Greetings from Floyd, your end times destination vacation.”
5. I like watching the Golden Globes like others like watching the Super Bowl. This year President Clinton introduced Lincoln for best picture, Jodie Foster officially came out and I mistook Tina Fey for Johnny Depp.
6. THIS is my kind of funny.
7. And THIS is my kind of art.
8. When I asked my 4-year old grandson what annoys him, during a discussion about the meaning of the word annoy, he answered, “The only thing that annoys me is when Liam (his 2-year-old brother) stabs me with a fake knife.”
9. If you google our Floyd comedian Tom Ryan, you’ll discover that Tom has an alter-ego Tom Ryan who is also a comic, like I have one who is also a writer. That Tom Ryan has made two appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman.
10. Funny how at readings when people ask, ‘can you hear me?’ and someone answers “no,” they proceed to read at the same volume they were reading before the question.
11. I don’t like those word verification codes on blogs that make you read and type in a distorted group of numbers and letters to show you are not a robot spammer. The only way I can manage to do them is because I tell myself it’s a neurological brain gym game that will ward off Alzheimers and dementia.
12. A message to the U.S. Congress: A picture is worth 1,000 speeches and in the end nature wins HERE.
13. Good advice: Go find yourself first. So you can also find me. ~ Rumi

I’ve been in a self-imposed retreat from much of the electronic world since Christmas…I was peopled out and burned out, so have spent the last three weeks reading and sleeping and writing things in my head that never see page or screen.
But coming here this morning, as it does every time I come, reminded me of why I love blogging in the first place.
Happy Thursday.

And comments like yours, MissMeliss, go a long way in helping me continue to show up here. Thank you.

I rather enjoyed that art, myself. Thanks for sharing it!
As for number ten, well, I’ll keep that in mind for the next book reading I do. By which I mean, I’ll make a point of *not* doing that. LOL!
Happy TT!

I dislike word verification too and find myself not commenting too much on blogs that have them. It’s all about easy, I guess.
Love your TT as always.

I have a friend who imagined he died from a fake stab wound. That’s what friends are for.

I’m with you about word verification codes on blogs. I’m excited when I get it the first time. 🙂

The word verification thing drives me nuts some days. I’ve been known to give up.
Stabbing by fake knife would annoy me too 🙂

Cute art, and being stabbed with any kind of knife would certainly annoy me.

I hate those word verification things. Sometimes I wonder if it really matters what you type in the box. I have a very hard time deciphering them, yet have never once been told I got it wrong. Maybe I will type in the wrong word someday just to see what happens.
