Rendezvous ~ aka Get a Room
Poetry is like a longtime loyal mate
that I have to rekindle by attraction to
Sometimes I sleep with it
in the middle of the day
Other times I just lie there
If you proposition poetry
it will raise its hourly rate
and if you have children with it
you can never walk away

This is great – I tend to see my “poems” as my children and sometimes we make beautiful babies, and sometimes they’re just the annoying bastards reminding me of all my bad faults.
Still, I cannot walk away. Excellent poem, Mosk

To really be intimate with poetry you must first be intimate with the poet 😉

hhmm, does the ‘having children’ obsession apply to us malefolk too? *smiles*

I really like this.
And it’s made me think. Particularly of Valery, “A poem is never finished, only abandoned.”. And I think that’s what I do. Like turtles that leave the eggs to hatch on their own. Sort of a poetry turtle.
Once I’ve let poems go people read them in ways I never conceived. At that point, the poems on it’s own, and taking on new forms. I can’t get it back. And I don’t mind that.
Thanks for a great write, and for making me think.

Clever– but not overly cute– with a tinge of truth that makes it all the better. Quite an enjoyable read 🙂 ~peace, Jason
