This is Why Floyd’s 4th of July Fireworks Were Postponed This Year
Can’t watch TV these days without a flash flood warning breaking in. Can’t go to the Country Club pool because it threatens thunder and lightening or rains every afternoon. Can’t watch the rain-date fireworks all the way through without having to run for cover. The chicken’s yard is a mud pit and I hope we get some sustained sun before the corn comes in because last year bear and raccoons climbed the garden fence until we added an electric wire around it (which is run by solar). The photo above was taken on July 3rd, and I think it’s rained every day since. That’s a mailbox in my neighborhood belonging to a family that could not get their cars out of the driveway because the creek washed out the road. You can see another photo I took of that road on the Floyd Press webpage HERE.

Yes, I have finally called the permit office to take down a big tulip poplar that I am afraid will fall as it sits in the bottom of the ravine which is now a little lake!

Incredible! To have so much Rain…It has to be really difficult on so very many levels….
That second picture tells the tale, too, doesn’t it? Flooding can be pretty treacherous, too!

Both pictures are of the same place but from different angles and the one here on the blog was taken later so it is darker. I rode by the same spot today and was amazed at how small the creek looks now.
