Across The Way
For A’Court 10/5/1957 – 8/17/2013
Every death is a pearl
in a rosary of prayer
And tonight you are the moon
smiling at the center
A trail of clouds has parted
into rows of unbroken lines
An I-Ching hexagram
makes a bridge to cross the way

Post notes: The name of the farm/community where A’Court lives is Travianna, also known by its English translation Across the Way. Across the Way is also the name of the business that puts on Floydfest, named because of the founder’s close relationship with A’Court. The painting above was on the cover of the first Floydfest program. See more of A’Court’s art HERE. A post on his last exhibit HERE.

This is in it’s sweetness both melancolic and sweet… death is just a bridge… lot’s of hope also.

nice….really very….i like the progression of this…each death a rosary, strong image and true….the cross the way is nice word play to end on as well…

Breathtakingly beautiful. I loved the imbedded mini poem:

in a rosary of prayer

you honour life with greatest respect and reverence….I followed your crumbs -life is art, art is life; more importantly A’Court perfected the art of living it is obvious by his work, if we all accomplish just one tenth of what he did, we would be I think fulfilled. I could identify with the words and images it was inspiring to say the least…merci beaucoup

Colleen, you’ve chosen perfect tropes to describe death, bringing in both the spiritual and the nature aspects of it. Quite beautiful.

Beautifully penned poem on death, Colleen. I often wonder about the bridge after I have lost loved ones.
