The fluttering butterflies add such a lovely touch to the garden – flying freely from flower to flower seemingly for our enjoyment alone…

nice. we have the same flowers out front, but no butterfly that I’ve seen.

This is the yellow swallowtail, Virginia’s state butterfly. They are all over my yard right now. There are also black swallowtails but not as many. I’ll be waiting to hopefully spot a few monarchs soon on their way to Mexico.
